There is one running of the morrow that I’ve put up before and I’ll do so again here. Please be upstanding for LADY VESTA, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, who runs in the ‘lucky last’ at Ludders (5.10).
She’s a rare venture into the NH sphere (although admittedly not over timber) for old boy Marcus Tregoning and to date her 2 runs have resulted in a pair of runner-up berths. First time up Lady Vesta put up a solid debut to go down by just 0.75 lengths at God’s own racecourse, Newton Abbot, whilst last time she just lost out in a dual, at Stratford, with the pair pulling a whopping, and I do mean whopping, 25 lengths clear of the 3rd home. With that experience under her belt I would expect Lady Vesta to now be ready to enter the old winner’s enclosure.
It should also be worth noting that those efforts were against the old boy geldings but tomorrow she contests a ‘mares only’ heat. Meanwhile, Lady Vesta is a well-bred sort with her dam being a 6 time winner for the barn and the stable are in competent form with, at the time of writing, 2 out of Mr Tregoning’s last 3 runners winning, I say winning.
This does though look an above average heat with both Grania O’Malley and Presenting Pearl also having decent placed form, Fine Ark being a daughter of a 5 time winning mare and Fidji De La Mare being a half-sister to a couple of winners.
As stated above Lady Vesta is a rare runner in the NH sphere for Mr Tregoning but curiously he also has another running tomorrow in the bumpy-bumper at Towcester – the 3YO filly Celesiana. No opinions re this race, as its full of unraced types, but it should be an informative one as opponents include one owned by the 11th richest man in Wales and the absolutely splendidly monikered Raving Bonkers, what a lovely name for a gelding by the way!
I now realise that I’ve waffled on for quite a bit so I’ll just add - good luck, pilgrims.
