I like to see most of our ex-players and managers do well. I'm not, generally, a bitter person who bears grudges. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that I've worked hard to get to a lovely position in both my personal and work life? Well done PB for most of your work for us: sorry you weren't good enough in the end to take us further. The sack should have come sooner or later but would have made no difference to us staying up or going down IMO. Be happy people!
So you would replace what you deem an 'inept' manager with a manager who has been proven to be rather inept? Cracking logic there! You have a very strange definition of inept if that includes taking a team on a 5 game unbeaten run to 7th in the league with only 9 defeats in the last 40 matches.
i never seem to get mentioned in the same group as percy etc, yet i dislike pearson every bit as much .. what id be interested to know, is who goes to what games...ill tell you why, from what i can gather, the ones who dont go to many games, especially away, are the ones who shout loudest about getting behind them etc, were 6th..etc etc.. i reckon i could be mr positive sat in my armchair, sticking the kettle on at half time, then looking at the league table... when your travelling up and down every week, rearranging your working hours every week, spending an absolute fortune, getting stuck in stupid roadkworks, meaning a 30 min trip to donny takes an hour etc, then sometimes a little entertainment doesnt seem like too much to ask! im not having a dig at people who cant afford to go every week etc, but getting sick of people slagging people off who have a different opinion, who put in the hard work supporting the team up and down the country every week, just because they dont like pearson doesnt mean they deserve to be called idiots!
I can't believe we're still waiting for the "i'll take Molby & Parkinson back" comments from the knee jerkers. We've already had suppport for the elephant man.
The difference is you're quite sensible and wouldn't start posting tripe about preferring Dowie to Pearson, thats why I called him an idiot, as that's an idiotic comment.
You always make a reasonable case for not rating him, Percy posts in such a manner that pissing everyone else off seems more important that actually making his point, that's the difference. I don't think the support of our manager is necessarily split along the lines of those who do and do don't away's, you know my position on NP and you also know how many away's I do. I can fully appreciate those who criticise the nature of many of our performances, I don't like us sitting on 1-0's any more than anyone else, I just don't think that's what NP is telling the team to do. He's continually complaining about our lack of goals and our inability to stamp our authority on a game, I don't think it's for want of trying. Last season there were too many defensive substitutions killing games, this season I think substitutions have been largely positive, they just haven't yet regularly delivered the results intended. I think the performances are improving, the results are decent and he's at least earned enough respect from me to be allowed to try and move things further forward.
That's it really, he calls the manager a tw#t on the other thread about Pearson being arrogant, like that's a valid comment. Fair enough people want to see more goals and attacking, don't we all. I guess theres those that appreciate where we are and others who'd rather us see us lose more games by playing wide-open football.
when we where winning corners on tuesday, cairney was ambling over to take them like he was on a sunday stroll..and pearson was stood watching with his arms folded..id have been screaming to get on with it, and urging people forward..i know we where away, but if you cant have a go at bottom of the league, where can you have a go ..there was little urgency in everything we seemed to do, until barmby came and at least tried to inject a bit of life into things... there was definately more of a focus on not losing imo, i appreciate there are no easy games etc, but i cant see a west ham, brighton, etc not going to bottom of the league and taking the game to them, i just think ultimately we could look back at the end of the season with regret at games like the last 2...i also dont get his excuse that donny went more direct in the 2nd half, that doesnt effect what we do when we have the ball, he aklso said we dont have the players to go direct, we shouldnt have too just because the oppisition do, and if he wanted too, he had his 6foot plus lump on the bench next to him. i try try approach games with a positive mindset now, and support him..after portsmouth i was pretty happy, and thought we might be turning the corner, but the last 2 games brought back a lot of the frustration, see how saturday goes, one things for sure, weve won the last 2 with a cross, then a 25 yard wonder goal, that cant keep happening.
thats a fair point, but it doesnt have to be one or the other..look at tws last season, we both ended up in practically the same position, but who do you think had more fun along the way? and with brady, cairney, koren, fryatt etc in our ranks..if we went more bold, i think we can win a lot more then we lose.
There is a lot of improvement to come so considering we are p6 now then the future is looking good. When we went up we weren't anywhere near this position. What we all need is a game where they bang in a few goals I think then it's win win for everybody. UTT
IMO you talk a lot of sense and aren't in anyway rabid in your views. I'm all for people speaking their mind but when it comes to rants from Percy I've given up trying to be tolerant of him. In the early days I used to support his provocative posts, now I just feel he's talking rubbish for the sake of it. This thread started off with me congratulating PB, someone I still hold a lot of respect for. The thread then moved into a "get him back he's better than NP" direction. I don't think NP is perfect and I do get annoyed with seeing some rubbish football at times, but I also see lots of positives too. As I've said earlier, I've seen lots of shocking football for us for many years in all divisions! I don't want this board to be happy clappy like Footy Mad was like at one stage (Ghurkin on there was so positive I felt like throwing up some days......)
