I can't help but feel there's summat smelly about his place in the England squad.

Playing the USA?

Somebody is doing somebody 'a favour', methinks.

(Scudamore for a job in the USA?)

Heard the bald **** on the radio lamenting the failures of The Golden Generation and hinting it was 'poor management'.

GTF soft ****.

It’s a friendly. He’s broken numerous national team records. I don’t see the issue with giving him a send off.

Yes there’s an opportunity to make money but everything is an opportunity to make money.

Yeah I don't get what we lose by doing it?

We have given so many youngsters chances over the last 18 months, it's hardly like there is a huge candidate missing out because of his squad.

A player who always tried his heart out for his country, and was criticized often due to failures else where and our countries obsession with building youngsters up. He was never going to live up to expectations placed on him.

Bobby Charlton is coming on for the last five minutes

What's the issue?

A legend of English football never got a farewell game. We have a meaningless friendly which we have taken seriously in every other way and we can raise a few thousand for charity. Sounds like a great idea to me.

We are terrible in this country for giving great servants farewells.

The send off Alistair Cook got in his last test (I was there) was incredible. Rooney deserved the same in my eyes.

I don’t disagree that he should have had a good send off if he was in the same position career wise as Cook. I have nothing against him at all
However this is more like bring back Gatting because the game happened to be near his house

Not for me

Rooney a 'servant'?

He could employ an army of them for the rest of his life.

He's megarich, got a bulging trophy cabinet, Engand's record scorer etc etc

He's also ****ish, abusive of fans who have travelled thousands of miles to see him and his mates fail badly, a foul-mouthed buffoon.

Move along please, nothing to see

Great on the ball when he came on tonight. If England played the way they do now but when he was in his prime he would have thrived on the international stage
