Warnock

I agree on the 3rd place syndrome. All in the mind.
Not that Fulham have been on a bad run, but sneaking into 6th on a good run of form is bette than being 3rd on a poor run.
Some big hitters in the play off spots, all of whom have splashed the cash. There are going to be 3 unhappy owners come the end of the month.

I'm glad we avoided them as it's going to be tough for all 4 teams.
Villa have been there or there abouts all season and we all know the run Fulham are on. Middlesbrough built momentum at the end of the season and derby have turned a corner after an injury hit poor run.
Just glad we don' have to worry about it.:emoticon-0141-whew:

You’re right there mate, it’s tight as **** between those 4. You’d argue players wise all 4 were as good as you but the way you stuck in as a team, that’s the difference sometimes.

I wouldn’t be putting a bet on those playoffs, not a penny, is literally anyone’s. Usually there’s one you fancy and one you definitely don’t but you could see any of them winning.

Derby on occasion have looked as good as anyone, Fulham have the great individuals, Boro are very hard to break down and Villa in theory have the best squad.

Absolute lottery.

Did you lads even fancy yourselves to go up this year? Weren’t even in the running. Just looked at my preseason leagues bet that lost and I got 13/1 on wolves!

And 17th in November. The league is 46 games not 24. If we'd ended the season after 24 games we'd have gone up as well.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
The mantra of all failings.
They must be favourites for the playoffs though.
Mate the bloke you quoted is our resident clown!! A season is 46 games and Cardiff thoroughly deserved promotion. Good luck

If there was a chance of Warnock coming here I would snap his hand off then his other one then both his feet you lads on here would be kissing his arse this time next season <laugh>

Last season Warnock was talking about teams in the championship paying £15M on one player. He said he only wanted £5M to spend on the squad.
He said if he had those funds he'd compete for a playoff place. Most on our board thought he was being optimistic but would take 6th place as a good season.

He made a lot of uninspiring signings that turned out to be inspired.

He signed bamba, that Leeds paid off, picked up a few frees from lower leagues (mendez-laing was out of contract at rochdale) paid compensation for an injured right back from Scotland and made him our no10 who in half a season became our top scorer. In all he signed around 11 players preseason and spent less than the £5M he'd asked for.

Not everything he touches turns to gold. He paid £2.5M for Tomlin, barely played him then sent him out on loan.

33-1 we were at the start of the season.

Not sure if he can transfer that into the big league, but it'll be fun finding out.

You've probably guessed there's no love lost for Warnock around here <laugh>

But there's no getting away from the fact he's a bloody good Championship manager. This is his level and he excels at it. I wish we'd had him. We wouldn't be going down right now.

But as for next year, he'll have no money. You guys aren't Wolves who've got money to spray around next season.

I think you'll struggle next season mate but if you do get relegated, you'll be taking a shed load of money back down to the Championship to build even stronger the following season.

I'm under no illusion. It's going to be tough. Bookies have us about evens to stay up. I'll take that. Better odds than they offered on us getting promoted.

Your last point is the key.
I'd rather get relegated having been there and with parachute payments to go again than not having been there at all.
