I personally have lost all faith and hope in waddock, regardless of him being a nice bloke.
And i disagree completely with what people are saying about small budgets. As slasher pointed out yeovil have posted a small profit and that was based on a turnover of £2M through the commercial activities at the club our turnover is in excess of £3M and unlike a lot of clubs our debt is in the form of loan notes from hayes and not from a bank charging interest for our borrowings. My other halfs lot all support brentford and they were telling me that they were paying a couple of hundred grand a year in interest, now although i doubt we are getting the loan notes for free they certainly won't be being charged at rates that other clubs are having to shell out on. So the arguements for limited budgets is completely flawed even more so when you take into account the fact that with the exception of about 6-8 clubs we are all of a similar size. It just doesn't stack up as an exscuse for our miserable failings of this year.
In addition does having a lack of resource constitute a lack of effort? Of course not. In too many matches this season there has been far too many games where we have been too meak to even compete with the opposition rochdale, tranmere, brentford, huddersfield, oldham, bournemouth, yeovil the list goes on and this is waddocks fault good guy or not.
And as for being a goog L2 manager??? Really??? I don't even think he is that. Yes he got us promoted in what was a poor league and that was relying a lot on nikki bulls producing absolute miracles - again due to an inadequate defence that was highlighted significantly more this year because of the increase in quality in finishing of L1.
No waddock is not the answer, poor signings, poor tactical decisions, a lack of taking games by the scruff of the neck and more importantly a lack of taking responsibility. And before devon pipes up about being compared to MON at the end of our promotion campaign that certainly wasn't me and if anyone was doing it i think they had expectations far beyond reality.
BUT and this is a big BUT. I/We have had several discussions on this with JS et al about who would come in and quite frankly there is no one there. And now the situation is dimmed even more by the lack of being able to bring in players for next season and until that changes stop thinking about promotion because it just wont happen. As it stands we could potentially have 21 players for next season of which one (ainsworth) is on his last legs and 7 are teenagers who are just breaking into the first team setup that isn't going to get promotion so next season until there is more certainty reality says we have to be competitive and stick with waddock - however much i don't want it.
