I would like him to go as we need to make changes. But I don't want to see this turn into a Waddock witch hunt as he is a likeable guy who has done good things for us too. I believe he has 2 years left on his contract. I doubt he will quit, and why should he. He needs a job just as much as anyone else. And I don't see us sacking him. Hayes won't want to lose any more money in paying him off and if the club is handed to the Trust then there simply won't be any money. So if he is still with us next season we have to get behind him.
dont get me wrong if waddock stays i will still back him and the team vocally from the terrace as i always do ,i just think he has had enough time to get his players in and for us to play his style of football and has failed dismally.
I really don't know. It doesn't seem so long ago we were all singing his praises and referring to him as the Wadfather.
Yet his substitutions have often puzzled me and his failure to build a solid defence is surely the main cause of our relegation.
Another problem is not being able to rely on a 100% team effort week in week out. Some weeks the team spirit is admirable but some weeks it is abysmal.
Some of the problems may be more to do with off pitch problems but team building is down to the manager.
Perhaps we just can't afford to be in League 1 and maybe no manager would have fared much better. That's a big maybe but he got us promoted from League 2 so maybe he can do it again.
I think I would be inclined to not sack him at present. Wait and see what the bigger picture is first.

i dont mind either way: waddocks big problems of poor signings and subsitutions have cost us this season but he got us out of league 2 and im sure he could do it again. i doubt hayes will sack him and given the possible oertaking of the trust it will be up to the fans
I think thats pretty strong mate. 'failed dismally' ??????? I wouldnt say so. When he took over, we were pretty much already stuffed so he cant be blamed for that relegation. Then he took us up (cue the 'he's the best thing since MON' comments). Now, we find ourselves relegated from a division that contains Sheff Weds, Sheff Utd, Charlton, Huddersfield, Notts County and a host of other strong teams in a season where Waddock has had practically nothing to spend from an owner who couldnt care less. What more do people expect???? I dont doubt Waddock has made some odd decisions but come on, he's a young manager who has had no support from his management. I hope he stays - apart from anything else, we cant afford to sack him!! Lets wait and see what happens in the coming weeks before we start beating the 'WADDOCK OUT' drum
I don't believe what your saying is totally accurate.
Are you telling me that he had a smaller wages budget than some of those around us (Rochdale, Yeovil and the likes). I very much doubt it. Hayes, for all his wrongs, backed Waddock in the loan market. In fact we have had such a flow of loan players as our own squad (put together by Waddock) are nowhere near good enough for league 1.
Waddock was brought in to improve the team and has taken us in full circle back to where we came from. Whatever happens in the coming weeks will not improve his ability to wheel and deal in the free transfer market and hence the ever revolving door for players at Adams Park will continue.
if we keep waddock we will put up with more of the same again next season, tactically he just hasnt got a clue.
Sorry, Rochdale weren't a great example, but as you mentioned......you know what i mean!
Yeovil are posting small profits at present, so fair play to them. It does seem however, that the majority of clubs have a level of debt across most leagues and many are in a poor financial position. The fact that most of our debt has been in the form of loan notes from the owner and therefore we have not had the pressure of realising this money in order to survive should actually mean we are in no worse a position than the numerous other football league clubs with debt issues.
Bills have been met and players paid without issue as far as I am aware, therefore there should be no "off field" excuses - and in fairness I have heard none so surely your point is mute
I think this question has got us fairly evenly split, either you believe he's tactically weak and hasn't addressed the problems with our back four over the course of the season therefore he must go for us to move on or like me remembering he got us promoted, and there were off field issues to a greater or lesser extent still have faith he can deliver given the chance and some stability.
I agree with Slasher and Ron. I've never accepted the assumption that struggling in League One is the best we can hope for. If you take average attendances as a rough guide to what the playing budget should be there are 13 other teams in League One who are no better off than us, so it shouldn't take a miracle to get at least into mid table. Add to that the fact that this season we've had one of the best strikers in the Division, and we should have done better.
That said, Waddock did win promotion last time we were in Div Two, even without anyone scoring a decent number of goals (take Rendell's penalties away and he had a pretty average season), and you can't deny the effect that bad club management can have (look at Wolves and Blackburn in the Premier League). I actually think Waddock did learn a few lessons, even though it was too little too late. He did realise the midfield isn't strong enough to play 4-4-2 with two wide men and switched to 4-5-1 / 4-3-3, but if the squad isn't strong enough, you don't tend to have good options on the bench when making substitutions; and of course that's largely down to Waddock since he signed most of them.
Finally I don't think the club can afford to sack Waddock; so we have to hope his signings this summer will be a lot better than last season's.

He's got to stay. He's not an awful manager - he's not good but he's not awful. We need stability in what is going to be a terribly dark time for our club - having a manager is better than not having one, and I don't see anyone else coming into this situation if Waddock went.
Alternatively you could say Waddock has kept us in the same position for the last two years whilst the owner buggers around with our objectives, 'lends' us money, tries to get rid of our ground and gets arrested due to his involvement with one of the biggest dirty tricks stories the country's ever produced. I'm surprised we even made it into League 1 in the first place.
evening jock,having met waddock earlier in the season he seems a very likeable bloke,i am just so dissapointed that he didnt keep us up.in my opinion its time for a change ,we need freshening up.
Hi Rocky. I know what you mean, he hasn't set us alight at all. I think he is a good bloke - but of course you don't necessarily want a good bloke as a manager. I just feel that getting shot of a manager now will only add to the problems. And I also think he can still learn from his errors. I just wonder how much freedom he really did have to sign players - loans or not. There were of course errors like Benyon - but there were also unfortunate issues like Rendell's personal circumstances and DOnnelly's injury. What was interesting was when he signed a few players a while back we went on a cracking little run.
All I am saying is, I don't feel there is anyone else out there who will actually manage us at the moment due to our situation, so I don't think getting shot of Waddock, who hasn't in my opinion been completely disastrous, would do us any good at all.
