I can only speak for myself on this and how I was raised in my Catholic and Christian upbringing. Statues are pieces of stone, wood or metal and are not to be worshipped in and of themselves. Depending on the statues and their historical significance, for example, they are revered as works of art and are there as reminders to pray.
