I'd accept a combination, but I don't like it. Far too many runners get away under that system. I've never liked it, never will.
Mignolet has reverted to type by the way. Honest question do we have **** defenders or are we structurally drilled wrong? I am not sure VVD would have done any different. That said we should throw the whole wad at Southampton as I cannot stand panicky lovern
Ah well - if it wasn't obvious before, it is now - we need 2-3 new signings before end of the season !!
Result isn't so bad but the manner in which we gave it away, the defensive performance and the bizarre subs means this will feel more like two points dropped than one gained, in a game where we needed to build up some momentum for Tuesday's first leg.
I'm a firm believer that it's down to personnel than system. The system isn't to blame when someone like Gini fluffs his lines at the front post. Lovren was dog **** for the first two goals as well - we need someone who takes responsibilities and can handle high balls.
Hopefully this performance is the kick up the backside FSG need to man up and call Southampton. Any horror in Germany and they are looking at fan revolt if Coutinho goes to Barca
I don't know who's to blame though. Does Klopp honestly think what he's got is good enough or that he's good enough to cope meaning if we can't get his plan B, that's ok? Or is it that the owners simply won't spend what's required for the players we need? Or is it the recruitment who've got a plan A and **** all else? Maybe all three - which would be worrying.
We can sign as many defenders as you like but until we have a sensible system we will still be poor defensively. Whoever takes our defensive set piece training sessions should be sacked asap. JK's substitutions really confuse me and i think they hugely contributed to the shambolic nature of the last 10 mins. PS how ****ing lazy has Origi become PPS finally we have found someone in our squad who can take a good corner
Bit more height and power to defend long ball / set piece I assume. Ironic isn't it that we then concede from one! Said earlier if he wanted to add height then bring Gomez on for Gini or Mane and move TAA up to midfield.
TBF to Klopp, his wished for starting line-up was missing three players; Van Dickface, Keita & Coutinho! Edit; Lallana & Clyne too...
Really starting to hate the sound of our Lilly livered captains voice...couldnt captain a toy boat in the bath...
I think Klopp is stubborn and wants the first choice, and Edwards isn't strong enough to fight him and pursue the next targets.
We've improved one aspect of our game from last year. One. The one that we least had to improve. We haven't improved our creativity from midfield. We haven't improved our defensive frailties at set plays We haven't improved the back line at all. The only defender that came out of today with any credit at all was a teenager that cost nothing We haven't improved the goalkeeping situation. We haven't improved the lack of leadership. We haven't improved the strength of the bench. We haven't learnt about when to make the right substitutions We haven't got a plan B in anything. Not on the pitch. Not in player targets. It's f#cking lazy. Klopp, needs to pull his finger out of his arse or he will lose my support. I truly believe that he can take us to the next level but not if he doesn't change things or buy players to address our very obvious weaknesses. Rant over
Its the stupidest transfer strategy. It's like saying 'I really want a Ferrari, but they wont sell one to me. I could get a Porsche, but I don't really want one so I'll keep walking instead.'
