Kind of, I think Origi could offer quite a bit wide too in a 4-3-3 and is certainly young and raw enough to learn new things.

  3. I'd not be happy if Neymadge was our only striker. We need more than one!!!

but not with benteke in the list?

    #604
  5. So can Studge. He played wide in a 433/451 at Chelsea

  6. I've not complained about Benteke. I don't think he's good enough but he does offer us another option. I just wouldn't put him above any of our other strikers purely based on the teams playing style.

Studge can barely manage a walk to the shop <laugh>

But yeah I think Chelsea found him incredibly frustrating in that position because of his greediness (which I love, but only as a proper CF). He would just be shooting from crazy angles miles out all the time.

  8. Chelsea played more of a 451 so Studge was moody because he had to defend more. Put him in a 433 and let him attack and it would be different. However, I don't see that happening even if he were to somehow "walk to the shop" <laugh>

I'm firmly in the 'sell Studge at the first opportunity' camp. I was the same for Agger, no point in having a quality player if they're never fit to play.

I think you'd have to ask if such a style even existed still.

    It's about being bothered.

    Benteke needs to be bothered.

We've seen similar at villa and then he hits form and is unplayable

  10. I don't think its a case of not being bothered.

He doesn't just stand around like Balotelli, he does close the opposition down just not to the Luis Suarez degree.

Benteke makes runs too but again, not to the Fernando Torres proportions.

He can hold a ball up but not like Heskey.

He can run in behind but not like Owen did.

He can finish but not to Fowler's standards.

He can head a ball but not as well as Sami Hyypia could.

He is a decent player but I don't think he masters a particular area of the game.

He makes more runs earlier in games than later on. I think its down to frustration of the ball not being delivered. When the ball finally is delivered it is too late and therefore he is either offside, out of position or its simply easier for the defender to clear his lines.

I won't criticise Benteke until we start put passes and crosses in earlier for him. Any player in the world would get frustrated if they're not getting the supply / support they need.

I think last game he came on and looked not bothered. He annoyed me.

    Why would you:

    a) expect suarez level work. he is just about unique in that regard.

    b) Why would you expect him to run like a fit and fast torres?

    c) yes he can hold it up every bit as good as heskey

    d) All owen could do was run in... see first goal v leicester, not bad position and finish. owen was not as good as torres btw

    e) nobody since folwer could finish like fowler... not even suarez or torres. he's proved he can score

    F) thats being silly. hyppia was a CB

When the ground hardens like a horse that likes good ground he'll prob be brill.

I think to be successful with a false 9 in the PL the front 3 needs a player who is quick, direct and can run in and ahead to score goals, like a Walcott type.

Origi played wide for Lille and this could become his role.

Playing Lallana and Coutinho wide is just frustrating.

I agree, you really need someone to do exactly what you said. ifthe 9 is going to pull away from cb and go deep someone has to go forward and get in there.

  14. I never expected him to be at any of those levels. They were the best I have seen at Liverpool for those attributes and was saying I don't expect to see that either.

Hyypia may have been a CB but I was talking purely about scoring (or attempting to score) headers only. Hyypia was superb at it, better than any other Liverpool player during my time.

What form are you talking about? A few games here and there.

Bar his first season, his goal scoring isn't that Great.

    you asleep last season?
understandable given the disaster it was for us.

He hits form and becomes unplayable at times. I think he's done this and saved villa more than once.

He hit form for the last 2-3 months of the season. Where was he for the rest of the season, when he scored around 1 or 2 goals in around 15-20 games.

Same as the season before where he goes for long spells without scoring.

His first season was great - average players can have one great season. After his first, Benteke got found out. He's not as prolific or as clinical as you believe.

He was injured for the first two months. Then did sod all for around 20 games. Then Tactical Timmy came in and lumped the ball into him.

I'm sorry MITO, I hate breaking your heart.

£20m? That's optimistic.... We got £16m for Carroll and he's English! I'd imagine would be more around 15m, 50% loss
