Extrapolating current trends is a pointless exercise in football. Form and fortune fluctuate.
Give it time before throwing your hand in. :)
 
We really need our full backs to be on it, especially Trent. I posted an article from The Athletic which outlines how we attack and our full backs aren't creating as much (including Robbo despite having an immense season).

Jones, Hendo and Gini do not create so we can't rely on our midfield to provide the impetus (unless Thiago, Shaq or Naby starts).

I'm expecting a big game from Trent ...

I'm not.

Why? simply because its taking ages just to get the ball out to the full backs and theres nobody showing for the ball forward of them.

Its very hard to play when the ball comes t you when you are already marked and then half the time you get it facing your own goal as the CBs etc won't bloody play a ball to run onto.

Trent should focus on actually taking a few practice frees etc. his delivery off set piece has been frankly pathetic at times recently. even the most unfit player ought to be able to deliver a set piece.

Until the crabbing rubbish is sorted (please thaigo please) the full backs are being starved of any real go forward momentum. It basically ends up as "playing in front"

And this is where Thiago can really make the difference.

We saw it when he came on vs Newcastle and Trent became far more involved in the game. And then we saw it vs Villa as well where Neco was getting forward more.

It is simply inconceivable that we won’t make top 4. From runaway champions to Europa will be a massive fall but I am hopeful we will recover from this blip even if we don’t get a new CB. Thiago coming back will be the game changer.

it is feasible though. If we decide not to buy at least one CB, then it’s a lottery imo. Our choice based on real life issues.

and even if someone presses him more then theres a gap somewhere else to exploit.

If henderson and fabinho are the CBs you would expect ability to hit a 15/20 yard pass better.

if i said that (and I have) i would be lambasted (and was)

ever let reality get in the way of a feel good factor.

This is why people end up all ranty when the match goes badly and i end up going "ah well".

I am pleasantly surprised and happy when it goes well whereas the hopeless optimist doesn't get to celebrate a 1-0 spawny win :)
