Most of what I was gonna comment on has been covered. I knew we'd be ropey and ragged defensively just like we were at the conclusion of last season. It needs sorting out soon as. VVD is excellent as we all know but he can't carry our defence on his own all the time, he doesn't really do 'bad games' but he's going to dip below his best at times and make mistakes, and he can't do it all on his own. Gomez's ability is being inflated playing next to him all the time, he's not that great, average even a lot of the time, as was demonstrated for England, and I know that was in the England side but the point remains. And our options at back aren't exactly inspiring. It's like being back in days of recent old when we'd score a lot, concede a lot. As has already been said I'd rather we just won a routine 2-0 and less happened. I don't know why Klopp won't buy another CB who's properly ready and closer to VVD's level.

I'm going to defend gomez here, for the majority of last season and the season before he was excellent. While every body was overjoyed with virgil alot of his work went unnoticed.

However ive said before, since the city game , sterling turned him inside out and he's not been the same player.

He was always cool and confident, now he's getting pulled out of position and making poor tackles.

I really do hope he comes out of it, he has the potential to be fantastic

Agreed. I'm just not a big fan of Matip, especially with pacey players running at him (which is what I was getting at with the <yikes> earlier). However, maybe dropping Gomez is the kick up the backside he needs so would be best longer term to play Matip.

Certainly don't agree with Biscan's suggestion of putting Gomez at RB, he's terrible there and Williams is a much better option.

CB needed imo. Gomez is up and down in form, sometimes even in games. Matip is injury prone and VVD is starting to believe his own press

Well, the premiership is back.

I feel the players took klopp a bit too literally when he said we weren’t going to defend the title, we were gonna attack it.

Lots of negatives, but positive, Salah looks on fire today even minus his goals. Mane looked very good.
