I totally agree on england. someone is a wet weekend playing now and they are straight in ... like rashford. its just flavour of the month. Thats why i was shcoked but happy defoe got a call as at least his ongoing form merited a cap.

Keane was played in a 343 v germany. england only lost 1-0 shockingly as the formation comes form copying the team on top of the prem. hardly the place to do it but do it he did.

That experiment will then be discarded in next games whenever they are.

My view of international football is old school. a guy should EARN an opportunity. It is easier now due to that foreign player thing i showed. Its hard to get a game in the prem than play for england IMO. In fact i'd go so far as to say if you regularly play in the prem and don't get an england call you must be a terrible player.

I think if a manager starts an international campaign he should have a good training camp pick his 16/18 really core players and stick with them all the way. and to be damned with the media picking favorites. to get in to a squad then you need to be earning it. Then that manager needs to bring that team and style together every international break and work on same set up. end of.

I was sure last world cup and then euros england basically decided

a) they didn't know who was going
b) didn't know how to play
c) they needed to do preseason before the comp and knackered players

how in 6 years in charge can you not know your team and your style of play? Its obscene.

I bet wales know full well how they will line up if they've even 11 fit players.

That's what should happen, yeah, but the England squad has always been picked by the media, Walcott in 2006 was a perfect example. He was picked over Darren Bent who had 18 goals in the PL and was the 3rd highest goalscorer (behind Henry & Ruud). Not saying Darren Bent is a great player but how the **** does a guy who has less career appearances than Bent had goals that season get into the team ahead of him?

England's squad for tournaments has always been undermined by ridiculous decisions. Walcott in 2006, Heskey, King etc in 2010. There's an obsession with chucking players who haven't been involved at all in the qualifying campaign in just because they've had a bit of media coverage in the last few months of the season.

That's without getting into the tactics and the fact I'm sure Hodgson played Alli and Rooney out of position for the Euros and changed to a diamond formation that hadn't been used at all in qualifying.

Owen got in in 1998 but then again who was it in 2010? whilshire, ox, shaw, barkely, lil rim, wellbeck... none had a ****ing hope in a major tournamment.

then in 2016. rashford is stuck in... madness. then he's blamed when he's turend to cos england are **** and he can do nothing. delle alli.. dragged along. no knoweldge of the squad.

a player to play in that tournamment needs to be in the squad min 18 months to be ready and knowing the score.

and yes hodgson's got form for picking some odd formation and ****ing it all up prior to tournamnets. World cup and euros were both the same.

Nah 2010 was even worse. Matthew Upson at centre back ahead of Carragher in the game against Germany. The whole formation relying upon Gareth Barry coming back from injury and being the holding midfielder, then he came back and got absolutely destroyed by Mesut Ozil.

think Can will start ahead of Hendo and more likely Firm will start than Coutinho since the latter is regularly subbed off prior to 75 mins.

Why doubts on Firmino? Coutinho might not play due to fatigue but that's not a issue for Roberto (lacking both the nationality and toe to pull this name off)
 
We'll play the same team as the last game. Can played himself into starting, Coutinho will be given another chance and rightly so. Firmino will deffo start over Origi.

I forgot about upson. It was like 2010 world cup was a complate blank for me.

IMo thats not how it can or will work and lucky will eat klavan alive if he plays.

Why should klavan keep his place? if you apply the logic about can then surely mr klavan having coughed up at least IMO two goals in last games should not?

It's a risk bringing someone back from injury straight into the team so he keeps his place imo, he hasn't done badly since he came in.
 
Also if you have a team playing with one up top, bossing the midfield and stopping the supply like we did vs Spurs is a lot better than letting your CB battle it out with a striker.

IMO klavan doesn't deserve a place.

Lovren played u23s already and had a full 2 weeks trianing in. Get him in.

We don't and he doesn't.

We'll be looking to hit the channels if we go long at times. The danger for you lot is if we manage to play through the high press and release the likes of Barkley, Lukaku and Mirallas with balls in behind
