We went out to attack and we gave them a go. It was the right approach because we did create a number of chances

The only criticisms I have of klopp are maybe he should have started Trent because Gomez is still coming back from injury and this is a big game, and using Gini as a false 9. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Come on Jimmy. We've had opposing teams with 70% possession being deservedly beaten 2-0 or 3-0. Its all about putting that ball in the onion sack. Nothing else matters.

I agree with both of you. Goals matter. Absolutely. But if you just looked at the score and didn’t see the game, you’d be surprised at how in the game we were and how much closer than 3-0 the game really was. We still lost 3-0 mind and you can’t wrap it up any other way.

Exactly. No one is happy with the result. We’re practically knocked out.

But losing 3-0 when you’re outclassed by the better team - I can accept. But this was far from a battering. The scoreline is flattering because we deserved much more.

As someone else mentioned above, the only thing that let us down was finishing.

Exactly, all that matters is they won, we lost. At the top level you're either winning or losing. Amateurs and recreational players can take some victory in the 'playing well we were the better team' victory, but that's BS at the pro level. Winning is everything, or should be, and that's the end. Imagine if we knew that our players are sitting in the dressing room congratulating and consoling themselves for 'winning the game but not the result' and happy about that. You'd not be very happy right.

Doesn't matter about what was 'flattering' or what we 'deserved' man. The scoreline is all.

Ok - just to put this to rest. 3 goals to Barca does not flatter them.

0 goals to us does not flatter them

0 goals to us flatters absolutely nobody at LFC

We all think we deserved more.....hence the 3-0 flatters them feeling. Reality Is that it doesn’t flatter us. Don’t score, can’t win.

I admire your rosy outlook. But I am frustrated that this was a great chance to win the best trophy in club football. We go past Barca and we would be favourites for the trophy.

It was always going to be a risky strategy:

1. Attack them and we succeed: probable advantage at Anfield. LFC favourites ? Anyone favourites to beat Barcelona?

2. Attack them and strikers are poo: We lose badly and we are almost out of the tie (like tonight).

3. Play a more defensive game on the counter: lose 1-0 but stay in the tie. At Anfield anything could happen. and we could overcome a reasonable deficit. Remember we have the best defence in the EPL and IMO better than Barcelona.

We were far too open. The advantages of being open and attacking did not outweigh the disadvantages. Even in retrospect. With a team like Barca would you be that confident even with a 3-2 or 4-3 defeat?

Maybe the strategy was fair enough but as has been said the execution was poor. An instance where Klopp's use of forward players rather than specialist strikers hurt us.

What is frustrating is that we could and should have come out of this first away match with something to hold on to. No one would have blamed us for playing a defensive or cagey game. We were playing after all one of the best teams in Europe if not the best.

Did you win the passing lads?

That Messi isn’t bad eh?

Good job Alison ignored Klopps instruction to go up for that last corner btw, otherwise it’d have been 4. <ok>

I’ll have to look at the goals again but how many were as a result of us being too aggressive?

The first goal, we were set up well and it was a brilliant ball in, loss of concentration from VVD and brilliant movement in the box from Suarez.

The second had a lot of deflections and bounces and quite unlucky. And the third was a world class free kick.

Barca did 2-3 or chances towards the end of the match when we did commit men up the pitch, but thankfully they didn’t capitalise.

what people.dont seem to get is Barca took thier chances and we didn't but that doesn't mean on another night we wound have been deserved winners

a) foul on Keita was a dangerous scissors from behind. It went unpunished. in a European game for that... well the ref was inconsistent at best. could have been red. No var even.

b) foul on fabinho. late and wild. No punishment at all. not even a free.

c) two pen shouts in game neither reviewed.. on another night both cpuld be given.. var has given that Matip one in games and not. there was clear intact on mane.

d) ball fell to mane but on his left foot. people go mad but what standard are you.judging on???

e) ter Stegen made a very good save from.milner at 0-1. that could easily go in.

f) fabinho tackle breaks exactly where it needs to to Suarez who if he catches it one 1mm differently it doesn't bounce back out.

g) first goal... thats as a result of us swapping round after Keita was stretchered off for a foul that should have been red. Milner swapped side as Henderson was a bit slow closing down. great ball. wonderful finish. Another 5mins later and Henderson might have prevented cross/pass

so... **** happens lads. We tried our best with a doubtful firmino on bench. I still didn't get an answer to what people wanted..
origi or sturridge... like come on. klopp did something and it did help us press.

he put in gomez as well which worked ok but maybe could have subbed there when Barca shut down our left side.

so **** happens..Messi was quiet but got a rebound and then a great free. Suarez took one chance....

all in all I appreciate how good Barca are and how we forced them to change style.to find a way.... for.me being in sf was a huge bonus so no shame losing to messi

oh and yeah... what we did v wolves in fa cup is far far.more annoying than last night... what kind of expectations have we of our team that we can be so angry?

I made this point recently but was basically told the FA Cup is beneath you as you're going for league and CL.

Yeah well.... I hope you.told whoever said it that it was a really stupid and plastic thing to say.

people say silly things in banter
