Would it be better to pay a fee and get the add ons like anti-virus and suchlike?
I got a treble up last night on the Euro games and won £112 so thinking about paying for a vpn.

No. Just get the bare bones vpn service. Can’t go wrong with proton it’s good value and has a really nice and easy ui on both desktop and mobile.

If you want virus protection use a proper one such as Norton, mcaffee, kasper sky etc.

I'm no expert but I believe a potential issue with free vpns is that they don't always offer lots of bandwidth and they offer a limited number of free connections. So sometimes you might not get on at all, it might be too slow and you might get inundated with ads. This from AI,

Free VPNs often compromise user security and privacy by selling browsing data, displaying ads, or, in many cases, lacking strong encryption, leading to data leaks. They typically suffer from severe performance issues, including slow speeds, limited bandwidth, and data caps, while offering minimal server locations. These limitations and risks make them unsuitable for secure, reliable browsing.

Agree with Plum. Better to pay to ensure you get good bandwidth, no usage limitations and plenty of country options. On occasions you can only get Citys games in more obscure countries. Just shop around for a decent deal from known good providers like Windscribe, Surf shack, Nord, etc.
Also, if u r using a windows computer you are more than likely fine with the inbuilt MS Defender. Just make sure it's enabled and working, then save your money rather than forking out for likely unnecessary 3rd party antivirus etc.

I have the McAfee virus protection and discovered a few days ago that it comes with a decent VPN. Worked a treat for the last few fixtures.

Surfshark £48.33 for their One plan for 27 months...

AND, you can get 98% cashback with TCB

That puts it at about 97p

I've paid for Surfshark installed it and when I tried getting on my usually sites (Prime, Netflix, here) I can't get on 'em. I have to turn the VPN off even though it's connected to the UK.

Yeah. I believe that's normal as they nowadays have measures in place to stop people misusing their subscription (sharing). Why do you want it on when using those apps? It's value is for when you want / need to visit another country (not literally) and arguably when browsing the internet.

Just to save turn it on and off.
TotalPVN was ok with those sites so I just thought they'd all be the same.
Apart from that it's doing what it should do.

Some sites now block VPN's, whichever one you use and it's likely that VPN blocking will become far more common in the UK once the Online Safety Act is being fully enforced.

I use the paid Avast service, mainly for security, the VPN is just a spin-off benefit.

At the end of the month Mozilla are starting to roll out their free VPN as part of core Firefox functionality.

I'm not a fan of free VPNs as they aren't secure (although I have nothing to hide, I just feel that busineses and governments have no reason to see what I do. ). It would be fine for country spoofing thiugh and Mozilla are pretty good at privacy.
