No one's going to turn down Barca, let's be realistic here. And Arsenal are probably going to remain a pretty big draw for the time being. But United? Why leave an improving club for one in seemingly irreversible decline?

I know you are joking here but you actually have made a good point. When you consider the ridiculous cost of players these days, what must our squad be worth on the open market?

£200m for SFC is therefore way too cheap.

We obviously won't keep him until the end of his contract (we can also hope but let's be realistic). It is a matter of when and how much. Of we sell him at the end of this season, even for a huge fee of £50m, I'd say that was very poor. With the length of his contract you'd think at least the end of next season.

He'll stay at the end of this season. I have literally no doubt about that.

I liked your post, but not the weeping emoji. Don't be sad about it. One day it will happen. :)

If Jon Stones cost £50m then VVD must be worth £100m as he is nearly the finished item
If Stones works hard he might be as good as Virgil

I would not have him as a striker, more then happy to have him at the tip of the diamond with redmond and long up front.
At least that way we have someone to hold up play for them. Would just need another quality cb...

Stones played pretty well the other night against Barca. Didn't score though, unlike Virgil.

To be fair, Virgil is probably the only player that we have that has increased in value to a big extent. Maybe austin could be worth 3 or even 4 times for what we bought him for if he stays fit ,only because he was a steal

Tadić? Bertrand? The fact that just about every player we buy, plus a large number of Academy graduates, get picked for their national sides at one level or another? I think you're underestimating the add-on value of playing for Southampton.

No it isn't, £200m is a good price for us.

Even better for Katharina :) I must say that if she makes a nice little earner here, it has been earned by lifting a team in dire trouble up to where we are presently.

Never thought I'd say this about a Saints player, but I'd be very disappointed with anything less than £50m for Virgil. If no-one stumps up the cash the next summer, I'd like to think he'll still be here come 1 October 2017.

Can't agree. The players (i.e. Inflated transfers fees), the ground, Staplewood, Sky/BT money etc. It's cheap.

Either way it's irrelevant to us as it all goes to the owners not invested into the club.

It's the owner who sets the price....makes no odds to us.

Perhaps, but you don't go around letting it be known.
