I see that Paul Lambert has offered his resignation from Norwich and it looks like he's going to Villa. Really sad to see this. Not because I like Norwich, but because he's a good manager and I was really enjoying watching Villa struggle after their celebrations at our pain. They could do well now.

It's most likely the cash.

Norwich were in League one a couple of seasons ago remember, so he'd probably be on tuppence.

At Villa he'd likely see his wages increase tenfold at the least.

Depends how much control he'll have at Villa whether its a good move. He is a cracking manager based on his record so far, but Villa have looked a mess over the last few years and he'll need some control to make it work.

Watch him get the sack next season for being midtable.

Does anyone else see a similarity between Villa and ourselves a few years back?

Came close to winning the league not too long ago.

Settled to being regulars in UEFA/Europa.

Started splashing the cash a bit (but not on top class players).

Went through a period of changing the manager every season.

Narrowly avoided relegation and fan unrest was high.

Relegated the following season?

I just feel when MON left, they lost their way a little. There doesn't seem to have been any sort of long term vision. This is maybe similar to us as you say, in that if you continually chop and change, particularly between different styles of play as they have, you suffer through a lack of continuity. The players lose faith and the best make for the exit. This purgatory slowly eats away at the fabric of the club until the inevitable happens.
