According to reports, we've agreed a deal to re-sign him on a free transfer, i wouldn't say no to him, he might be past it as people would say but we need an experienced defender and leader at the back and he fits the bill.

I actually think he left primarily because he didn't buy into Moyes management and comitted himself to Inter Milan before LVG was appointed. He would slot straight back in and is certainly better than our existing options.

Inter.

How long is this alleged contract? I don't think he's the answer at all but might patch us up till the end of the season.

I will welcome him with open arms if only to provide some much needed CB cover. A free rolling Pay as yopu play contract (like the Michael Owen) one would be perfect.

A (more) solid back line could improve the confidence of the midfield in their attacking.

If he's finding the pace of the game in Italy too taxing then his legs must have well and truly gone.

Didn't Moyes try and improve him by getting him to watch a video of Phil Jagielka? <yikes>

Moyes may have been a good manager but he behaved like the manager of a small club in awe of high profile managers and clubs. His comments about other players and other clubs were cringeworthy...

I bet you wouldn't you little minx.

I watch a lot of Serie A, and believe me we don't want him back. He has been a disaster for Inter this season, and was pretty poor for us last season. In his prime he was a great player for us, but his best is long behind him. At present id say most of our defenders are better than Vidic is at the moment. Jones, Smalling, Evans, Rojo are all better at the moment.

I don't actually think our defence is as bad as some would have you believe, we just dont seem to be able to get a settled partnership. None of them are world class, but there all good players and will prove that when they get a run of games together

What's that coming over the hill, is it a monster? No, it's someone who's over the hill :(

Theres not one world class centre back in the league.

If Rojo is better than Vidic, then Vidic needs to be taken out into the woods and shot. Rojo is truly awful.

Kompany is, that's about it IMO:biggrin:

Kompany world class <laugh>

Hes nowhere near. Unless of course the bar has been dragged way, way down.

Think of some of the best defenders youve ever seen and then think of kompany. Hes a very good defender but thats it.

Great shout <ok>

Ive made the point a few times over the past year. The standards have plummeted. Not just in the premier league either but in general. People say the likes of silva, ramos and benetia are the very best.... <laugh>

A new era of defensive midfielders has made world class defenders a thing of the past for now. Possession football negates the need to have a wall of a backline.

Shame really. Love to see another rio or vidic at their peak.
