One of the best records every made. "Destiny" by Zero 7 featuring a very young Sia Furler on vocals. I played "Simple Things" to death on the Boys' Weeks sailing around Majorca back in those days and everybody wanted the CD at the end so I had to burn copies. I can see us all sitting on the back of the boat sipping beer (some friends no longer with us sadly) whilst moored up off Magalluf. My god what a time we had. Happy days.

Where's your choons peeps? OK....another big fave is Seal. I think he's completely unappreciated here and is one of the UK's best songwriters and performers. Saw him live in Edinburgh a while back and he was excellent. I liked his dreadlock look that he's long since abandoned. My hair is just the same as on this vid. Lol. This is a classic, though it was so difficult to pick just one:

Seriously......this guy was a one of my idols. I tried (and failed) to play guitar like him. He was a fabulous keyboard player too. Absolutely ****ing gutted. :( If you ever get the chance try to watch some of his live stuff - the Sign O The Times period was brilliant. People forget his lyrics -

"In France a skinny man died of a big disease with a little name
By chance his girlfriend came across the needle and soon she did the same
At home there are 17 year old boys and their idea of fun
Is being in a gang called The Disciples
High on crack and toting a machine gun."

What a talent. :(

Hard to get his vids because he always took them down off You Tube. Lol. This is a very interesting one though. Some rock legends here in a tribute to George Harrison (including Harrison's son who is the spitting image!) ...then Prince comes out of nowhere to play a blistering solo at the end. Apparently he only heard "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" for the first time the day before. Simply amazing.

The man was a frickin' genius. Life is so unfair. :( If anybody has ever played an instrument or performed in front of an audience you can appreciate this. At the end, "Sometimes it Snows in April" is very poignant. "Sometimes I wish that life was everlasting. All good things they say never last." Too true.

Still desperately missing my pal Prince. :(

This is one of my favourite performances - what a band he had in 1987. Worth watching for Shiela E wearing next to nothing. Oh my god those nips. <laugh> Eight minutes of pure energy. No wonder he had bad hips in later life. This was the performance that Rolling Stone said made Michael Jackson look nailed to the floor. Brilliant. Please please please even if you're not a fan watch this: "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night"

One day we`ll all "meet on the ledge"

We used to say
That come the day
We'd all be making songs
Or finding better words
These ideas never lasted long

The way is up
Along the road
The air is growing thin
Too many friends who tried
Were blown off this mountain with the wind

Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I'm gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again

Yet now I see
I'm all alone
But that's the only way to be
You'll have your chance again
Then you can do the work for me

Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I'm gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again

Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I'm gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again

A wonderful song from Porthcawl boyo's People in Planes. This song, Pretty Buildings is in my eyes their finest moment - I love this song :

First one way too angst-rideen for me. Second one better but I've heard it all before. Probably an age thing.

..only just stumbled upon this thread, nice one Lib for starting. I like a lot of Welsh bands from my time there, so hard to pick out a favourite song but this would be in the running if I push came to shove!
