Roy was having a go about the handball rule this morning, not VAR in general. Mourinho'll be doing the same around now, Newcastle just won a penalty in similar dodgy circumstances.
It was never a penalty, the new rule needs to be reversed, it’s utterly ridiculous.
I've got an idea. Why not leave all the decisions to one bloke on the pitch who knows the rules well and, being close to the action, will generally apply them fairly and reasonably.
Ok, they'll be the occasional mistake but after all, the one bloke is only human, and it is, after all, only a game.
All this common sense goes out the window if any decision goes against us however, natch.
Then the reasonable bloke becomes an utter ****. FACT.
Bring back VAR.

If it's Mike Riley it will be a ****-up. I can see the PL managers downing tools if this continues.

VAR works fine in other countries. The problem here is the ****s using it.
Simply put: officials were all-powerful but always wrong, and TV replays always showed it.
They were given VAR to help; they hated the loss of power and purposely made it a farce.
Then, they were forced to use it better (through the monitors) and they hated that extra loss of power.
So, with the new handball law, their power to decide matches is given back in some way as they can just make games all about them again.
The refereeing in this country needs to be torn apart and built again from the ground up.
That handball rule is absolutely ****ing insane. I can't believe that was allowed to pass - actually, I can, because of the people who make those decisions.

Just because it’s technically possible to do something it doesn’t mean you should do it.
Whether the decision is right or not isn’t relevant (and most of the time, unlike a ball being out in tennis or in line with the stumps in cricket it’s a subjective call) it’s the ****ing ruining of the emotional high of a goal going in that’s the worse thing. Doesn’t exist anymore when you half celebrate then wait for some ****ing pointless chin scratching while watching a slow motion replay 8 times before you know whether to carry on celebrating.

It’s **** and wants ****ing chucking in the bin...and the bin crushing in a car crusher...then the lump of metal melted down...then the molten metal turned into toilets for high security prisons (EDIT - specifically for use by overweight prisoners with diarrhoea.)

Sounds to me like you can’t make your mind up Den, why don’t you have a think about it
The opposite is true of these incidents, the handball rule is only so crap because they’ve taken it completely out of the hands of the ref and made all ball to hand contact a penalty.
I'm glad you said you're not a fan of VAR at the end if your post !
As I read through there was no indication that you didnt like it
VAR isnt necessary its ruining football !
Leave it to the sports like Rugby , NFL and Cricket
The next thing that will happen is that managers will be given a red handkerchief they can throw on the pitch when they want to contend a decision. More like American Football every year.. Thankfully, as ive said before, the amount of time trainers are on the pitch has decreased dramatically since the restart.

It was farcical but hilariously typical that Man Utd got a penalty AFTER the final whistle was blown against Brighton.
The reality is VAR has made it more controversial.... TV ratings must be flying up!!
Makes you wonder who decided it was needed....
