Really is a mess. Watching the Sheff Utd game on MOTD, it's like they're giving inept referee's more time to be inept. Took them almost 4 minutes to rob Sheff Utd, is this it from now on?

VAR was always a **** idea.

I like the theory of it but not how it is being manipulated by the refs
It was supposedly to correct clear and obvious mistakes but now it's being used to spot a fleas dick being off side
To me that is not a clear and obvious mistake and if it takes 4minutes to find then it cannot be a clear and obvious mistake

People have forgotten what its got rid of , but it needs tweeking.
How many times we got bad decisions last few seasons ? So far for us weve had no issues at all.

It should be turned around and give each team 2 calls each half to contest decisions on goals, penalties, bookings, sending offs, and off sides. Get it wrong and you lose it. Get it right and you keep it. Only go back to current attack or last 30 seconds of play. Don’t look for clear and obvious mistake. Just decide what correct decision should have been.

Trial that method and I think it will become much better for everyone.

Var works in the main but for the offside rule. If the rule. The rule needs amended to give the striker the benefit of doubt. If there is daylight between the defender and the attacker it should be offside. If they are in line and it’s not CLEAR offside it should be allowed.
I support it, it's the future of the game. We gotta remember what it was like, as CC said, how many negative decisions have we really had in comparison to previous seasons?
The issue is, once again, the refs. When they call the VAR their buddies on the touchline don't want to make them look wrong, so they literally scrutinise every single aspect of the play to find a foul. As said. If it takes 4 minutes, there weren't a mistake and just ****ing give up.

They have to sort this out. I watched the Liverpool game and the wolves goal on the stroke of half time being disallowed was rediculous. He was level all day long. They were rightly absolutely fuming.
Surely, surely the obvious answer is if the ref is unsure, he gives the decision, then refers to VAR to make sure he's correct??

It has flaws, but its got rid of no contact pens, offside goals and no contact red cards... the issue to me seems this refusal to go against the refs original decision and i suspect that came from refs sitting around a table moaning ... it wouldnt suprise me in the refs want var gone so they are deliberately making it look bad... people are like this when any piece of tech comes in at the workplaces

"Stealing jobs and hindering progress. How can honest folk operate that??" In reality those unions hated progress of any form and wanted the status quo.
The referees love the attention mate. They've gone from junior level, through the league systems and have thought "I ****ing love this" they want this var out.

I like VAR if it's used correctly like in Rugby,if they're going with the offside rule,tweak it a bit,maybe only offside if the part of the body over the line,is part of the body allowed to score if that makes sense

Judging by Pawsons game Arsenal v Chelsea where he failed to second book and send off the Chelsea Guy who later went on to score the equaliser then he is one that should be sacked

This is an example of how it's been implemented in Australia. We just need the same level of transparency.

VAR is essential because you have to take Refs out of the firing line of wrong decisions. Careers, wealth of clubs and more importantly, Results are too important to be left to human error.
Offside is offside and VAR works perfectly. It's the offside rule itself that needs amending.
Every incident should be acted upon by VAR, not just the ones the Ref actually sees.
It's the first season but it will improve.

Great idea, horrendously poorly implemented as most have said.
I think it is also because it is new - people just won't like it, it's new, its different but it is coming to the right decisions 95+% of the time.
I think we have gotten away with one or 2 so far with it in all honesty so I'm not that fussed by it but GOD DAMN IT it needs to be better regulated!
There should be an appeal system where managers can appeal a decision - say 3 a game and if you get an appeal wrong you lose one, a time limit on decision making - if you can't determine if someone is offside in 30 seconds its not clear and not obviously offside so stick with the ref/lino's decision, better transparency, let the fans see and hear the decision making process so its understandable as Seebass has posted above..
