Guys correct me if I am wrong......Is there not new rules coming into force this season about the kind of debt a club can have? Also the amount of added investment each year? I understand this doesn't include things like new stadiums and the like, or does it? Maybe I have got this wrong...........

Accounts from last season will be considered, but the first season a club can be banned from Europe is 2014-15 (I think). In the championship, from 2014-15 clubs which make a loss above certain limits will face a fine or a transfer ban. I think the rules state that next season clubs are not allowed to lose more than £6 million.

They haven't needed to? Last season they lost the title and went out of the champions league at the earliest possible opportunity. The quality of their squad has significantly declined in recent years and they're completely reliant on Rooney's goals, without which they'd have been well off the pace of their neighbours last season.

What is the evidence that they are looking to splash the cash? Of course they're going to be linked with lots of players because of their status (and the fact their squad is so weak by their standards), but the fact is they don't have a lot of money to spend. I'd be surprised if they bought more than a couple more players.

They lost the title on goal difference with the last kick of the season - thinking you are somewhat wide of the mark is being over generous - but each to their own...

People have been saying this about ManU for the past 20 years - hasnt happened just yet, has it...

Which part of what I said was wide of the mark?

The evidence is there for all to see, if you want to ignore it that's your prerogative, but they are not the force they were.

Ooohh rumour has it that Real Madrid want to get their hands on David Silva. How much of a force are Man City then? Let's wait and see.
