Even my pals who are from that side admit it mate, it’s been neglected and let to rot. The stadium and the club.

It looks like a scruffy, desolate place from the outside, no lights or owt, just sits there covered in grime in darkness, bordering on eerie.

I mean, an industrial jet wash, which I know we do regular, is about a grand. To a Premier League football club. Who’s stadium stands bang in the city centre.

It’s true what they say, Ashley literally doesn’t give a ****.
Nope, so long as his other companies are visible for sky games he ain't going to change.

Lewandowski is a mad one.

Would likely have not stepped up either, he was **** for years, was playing right midfield in German Second division for B team and then just exploded.

With us and Ibra it was a bit earlier than Flo I think and Reid thought £4million was a gamble for a young lad. I don’t think we tried to sign him we just held an interest.

My favorite one that we missed out on TWICE was Kevin Keegan.

Alan Brown wanted to sign him from Scunthorpe but the board refused to pay over £30k for a fourth(?) Div player.
Our interest though was reported in the Press and this spurred Liverpool to take him.

Then years later, when he was leaving Southampton he wanted to come to the North East. (His dad was from the area).
He made it plain enough and just in case anybody missed the obvious, he entered The Great North Run that summer and ran in a top that was half N/C and half Sunderland.

If ever there was a 'come and get me' message!!!

We didn't call him but N/C did.<wah>

Not sure how I feel about that one, having not been around when he played the thought of Keegan on a Sunderland shirt makes me wretch a bit <laugh>

For me the best "Near Miss" happened to our nearest and dearest

The thought that Sheikh Mansour actually wanted to buy Newcastle, but was told by the great Mike Ashley it wasn't for sale. Can anyone on this site imagine what it would have been like for us to witness the Mags, win cups, leagues have the best players in Europe playing for them etc etc..... God Bless Mike Ashley

It would have been bloody awful, it's only because Man United are a huge club too that they can stomach City being up there.

As it is now I'm content with our lot and have no doubt who are the happier fans of the two NE teams but being in league one and watching Newcastle win the champions league...bleurgh.

Good old Ashley.

Got to admit the mans got class:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Our big miss was ignoring my all time hero Brian Clough and plonking for Bob Stokoe, even though Bob bless him gave us the greatest cup run of all time, I still think of what Old Big Head would have achieved given the same chance.

Aye but we're 2 divisions below them (and all of the other arguments)

Had this with a large number of their "Faithful" (most who've been to St James' about 3 times in their lives - I've been more than that!!)

One literally said to me "I'd rather be in the premier league than winning regularly in league one" - short memories those Geordies!
