Good enough for what?
47 pts is roughly average for the league leaders after 20, and the following pack are in the general area as well.

Good enough compared to prior years.

As in its been what 7? Years since leciedter won it and the points tally has been quite a bit higher to win the title than 81.

At this point it looks to be headed thst way.

You're making a prediction, I'm stating that 47 after 20 is a good average for the eventual winners over the last few years.

I'm very disappointed with that first half display but every team has a dip in form and in general we've played well all season other then one or two games. 2 games lost all season and one of those is a 2 leg cup tie that me may overcome yet.

It's still in our hands and teams around us will lose points.

It looked like we had a clear enough trent plan to just sit there but we had zero ideas what to do.

We threw a few shots from miles out and ballooned a couple crosses at the back post but otherwise seems shocked they were not going to engage with us.

We are playing some bizarre balls forward thst nobody was ever getting near.

It's now an official dip in form with 4 or 5 games affected.

We just need to see if konate is actually fit and just get back to the slot basics.

Which is fair.

I just don't think they are going to get close.
Fair enough. I said a while back I thought Arsenal might get up to about 85, I think now it'll be fewer than that.
We have a current max of 101, so to me it depends on whether our last few weeks have been a dip or a general decline after a great start.
I'm not shouting the odds here, just pointing out that we're in a very good position so far. If it were City of the last few seasons just behind us, I'd be worried knowing they can easily go on an extended unbeaten run, but City have surely slipped too far down now, and I don't think Arsenal are capable of such a run.
Forest are an unknown quantity.

I'm going to bet on 83 for the title.

Maybe we should run a pool for the laugh

I'd feel a little easier about the situation if we had got those 47 points at a steady pace... Its been a fairly uneven ride so far, an incredible start paired with anxiety producing mediocrity lately I can't wait to start winning again.

Yeah - I said it depends on whether it's a dip or a general decline.

Konate got injured. This all started.

He doesn't look right to me yet.

The clean sheets have gone and with it consistency.

Gravenberch doesn't look the same gliding rolls Royce he was either. Not sure if that's confidence or what.

Salah has dropped of the usual cliff.

I just think we need to get going again and into a routine.

Even with our indifferent form we haven't lost a lot of ground. A 9 pt lead was the best we had - briefly - and we're currently 7 ahead of Arsenal and 6 with a game in hand over Forest.
A dip, for sure, but not a catastrophic one just yet.
We definitely need to get some semblance of our early form back though.

Thought Gravenberch did well yesterday, more defensively obviously than his usual guile and smooth turns/runs forward, but was seriously tidy under pressure a number of times.

It's not abysmal.

It's top 4 challenger form.

Bext 4 are now key. 12/12 required but I doubt we even get by Brentford.

Slots pushed too hard in midfield and all control is lost.

That game yesterday was klopp chaos. Zero control but it opened forest.

It risked the 1 to get the 3.

And so we should - 3 points from two games is better than 2 points from two games. That's something rafa never learned, and hence why he never won a league - apart from ****e owners - even when in good positions. If we drop another 2 points at Brentford people may say "Hey, we're unbeaten in the league in January" when the story really will be that we've dropped 6 points. We dropped 4 points in December too. We've relying on everyone else around us dropping points again - this can't last forever.

What was negative about calling it a klopp style game in the end.

Slot threw on tsimkas and jota and took off a cb. He just threw it at them and forest kind of fell for it.

Now if they scored on the break he'd be lambasted but thwy couldn't and they sort of fell apart in fitness terms.

We risked the 1 point by just going all in for the 3.

Yes it wasn't totally poor but the first half was woeful in terms of aimless balls in and terrible shots miles over the bar for miles out.

In the end sels made 4 good saves. That says we were all over them by the end.

Nobody is really good enough this season so far so continuing to pick up points is better than not but this is now 8 points and a title race thst could be over missed.

Things happen.

Newcastle was poor imo. If you claim to be a control manager then losing thst lead is poor.

Utd was abject. Again a lead surrendered and damn lucky to get a point by the end wheres the control?

Fulham was an idiotic Robertson and a hard fight. Things happen but we reacted well

Forest deserved their point based on working hard but they are Wimbledon. Stoke. Pulis could be managing them. We got a goal of a set piece then were "brave" going for it. So getting a point is good.

There's 8 points gone, 4 really poorly but we are still.in front so we have to pick it up.

I am not looking forward to Brentford at all. I don't think konate is right at all and we are going to struggle against them but thry have not been good defensively so we should give it a go.

We need to win the next 4.

That includes Bournemouth and Brentford away, and a far better Ipswich than the one we faced on the opening day. As well as the dead CL rubbers, I'd put the kids out against Spurs in the 2nd leg of the LC semi. The league and the Cl knockout stages in March is all that counts now. If we'd have won all our games in January and had a double-digit lead then we could fanny about in the domestic cups, but now we can't. Just bin them.

Btw, was Danns on the bench last night? if not, why not?

They are all different challenges.

Brentford are struggling defensively
Bournemouth are a physical challenge and well structured
Ipswich are not good defensively
Everton will park a moyes bus and kick 7 shades and get away with it

It's not a case of relying on others to drop points - it's just a fact that everybody does. We'll drop some more, but so will everyone else.
As I said in an earlier post, the points tally for the top 4 is pretty average for this stage of the season, and 47 is a decent haul for the eventual winners.

Agreed. They're relying on US dropping points, and we have done a few times in the last 6 weeks but so have the chasing pack so happy days.

Definitely don't want to see it happen too many more times though that's for sure.
