Strange I didn't think the football season started until next week.

Important for you lot to get off to a good start. Win and you will go onto do well, lose and you could have the confidence knocked out of you.

Good luck this year we will need the six points next year to help in our push for the top 4.

I think you should be aiming for automatic promotion when you come down. The play offs can be tough.

I will always remember 2007 December, got ticket as birthday present so on 15.12.07 watched my first NUFC away game, on Putney end stand, i dragged my heavily pregnant wife with me(with our fans jumping and singing whole stand was moving and she was scared witless, well she is Arsenal fan they are not used to all that singing and supporting malarkey) it was not pretty game(Sam Allardayce was manager) but we won Barton from penalty, tomorrow i am again in Putney end stand hopefully 3 points and better style of football, if any of you guys are up for pint i will be around Temperance pub Putney

Asking for trouble with that post - the cries of delusion will be deafening from down the road. However the signs are there that last season was an anomaly due to poor management that wasnt acted on by those in charge quick enough. The results at the end of the season, the fact that some of our players are being transferred for significant fees and replaced with quality championship level signings and the fact that we now have a manager who is proven at the highest level suggest that this should be an enjoyable season. Am hoping we set some early markers for the season and then push on playing attractive attacking football. And if we do get promoted we dont waste the momentum a successful season should give us the way we did last time.

An anomaly from the top 8 finish we achieved the year previously?

Feeling confident about this game, and the departure of McCormack couldn't have been timed better. Win, lose or draw, though, like Rafa said, it is just one game of 46. We go again 6 days later. Then again 4 days later. And again 3 days after that. And so it will go on for 9 months or so. It will be relentless and we shouldn't get carried away whatever the result against Fulham.

Doesnt sound like you are too confident to me! I reckon we are going to be so good this year they will ask us to swap places with Sunderland by Christmas.

No - an anomaly to my obviously deluded view of where we deserve to finish each year.
Actually I meant that with the players we had we should have been performing better but due to the fact that they didn't turn up most games, had no leadership or useful managerial input we failed miserably. I have a feeling that if Rafa had been in charge from the beginning of the season we would have stayed up relatively comfortably. Not sure he could have been persuaded to leave Real Madrid then for Newcastle although to please those Sunderland fans who creep on here looking for signs of obvious delusion I will state that all it would have taken would have been the sight of a full St James' and a view of our 400-seater buses at away games to get him to come.

Can I just draw your attention to the fact that you haven't fulfilled the promises you made in the OP and I need to know quickly:
1) is it on in Indonesia?
2) if so can you guarantee it will be worth getting up to watch at 1.45am?
I am starting to think that we were better informed by ACS match threads, however poor they were.

And from what I recall the first game of our last championship season I think we drew 1-1 with west brom but I might be wrong.

Question. Do you live in Indonesia? If so, then that is not overseas to you, is it?

<doh>

Is Jogja still the pleasant town I passed through 30 years ago ? Loved it, though I hated Jakarta.
