Thats how the FA should have approached the Suarez case. Suarez said Evra abused him, Evra admitted to it, Evra said Suarez abused him, but was unsure aon how many times he heard it, having been coerced by his manager, Suarez admitted to it, but in his defence, he said he made a comment which in his country is a term of endearment. Therefore there was no real case to answer. The correct decision would have been to fine both Suarez and Evra and warned about their future conduct.

That may be so but he did admit to saying that word (yes in retrospect he could gone with "I never said that word" ..) and then it was up to the panel to decide whether it was abusive or not. They decided it was. For the Clattenburg case, if the ref denies saying anything, and the officials support him, then no case to answer I think <ok>

Actually Suarez claimed he said "Porque negro". Which roughly translates as "Why, blackie?". Whilst it may not be as offensive as Terry, realistically if a black man in the street called you a **** and you replied "Why, blackie?", I doubt it would all end with a handshake...

But is ''Why Blackie'' twice as offensive as ''You ****ing black ****''? The FA wrongly thought so. I stand by my statement. Suarez by calling Evra ''black'' just stated the obvious, its like calling Jonjo Shelvey ''bald'' or Frank Lampard ''fat'' or David Beckham ''stupid'' or a politician a crook.

You seem to revisit the arguments about the interpretation of the word. What I and others are saying is that he admitted saying the word (which the FA deemed to be abusive - which you think inoffensive). Fair enough. But Clattenburg did not admit to saying any word -abusive or not. The FA would have to throw the case out. <ok>

    Good point.
If that happened and the person you said it to was black, and you said yeah I am a ****, but you're black. I doubt it if they would get offended as you didn't saying ''you're a ****ing black ****'', you are just commenting on their skin colour.

The FA blew the Suarez case out of proportion and didn't take into account that most of it was hand-bags and 50/50. Suarez and Evra taunted each other and their comments were as offensive as each other. John Terry on the otherhand over-stepped the mark by using swear words.
If Clattenburg did call Juan Mata a 'Spanish twat'' thats nothing to whinge over. The English call Germans ''Krauts' and Americans ''Yanks'' People from Ireland call the English ''Stupid English' or ''Tans'' as in the ''Black and Tans''.

Oliver Holt, after condemning Suarez for ages asked on twitter whether "****ing black ****" was even racist <laugh> What a **** and he showed there WAS media bias against Suarez unlike Terry.

Only an idiot would suggest that calling someone a '****ing black ****'' is less offensive than calling someone ''black''

Don't be airing those views on Twitter, the FA don't like to be called names

You will find most neutrals think that Terry should have had at least the same punishment as Suarez <ok>

As much as I dislike Fergie, I do agree with him on this. The chavs are ridiculous with Terry and the actual evidence against him. To then publicly criticise a referee, it just sounds like they are going down, so take everyone they can with them. Should Clattenberg be cleared, the chavs should be serverely punished - a points deduction should even be considered, it is a serious matter.

Try it this weekend. Go up to a black guy and call him blackie. After he beats the crap out of you try and reason with him that you were just stating a fact. If he's fat also call him fatty as that will back up your argument. Let us know how you get on.

Martin Jol has said he doesn't think Clattenburg would direct a racist insult at a player. Why is he sticking his nose into it? What's it got to do with him? Utter Jol.

I agree with you on this. Years of fans chanting "fat Spanish waiter" to Benitez is racist and never punished.

No as calling someone Scottish isn't a racist insult. Calling someone blackie is. Simple as that.

Agreed. However if I was a black man and started an argument with someone, directing insults to both family and nationality, if they replied 'why Blackie' I would not take some moral high ground that I had been victimised
