To some of his supporters you are right. He's dominated their politics for what must be a month now, since he was forced out. I thought I heard them say yesterday, that's it's delayed changes Biden wants to put through.

I thought as soon has he gets acquitted he will milk it, and he has. They are trying to work on the principle if they call him a shhite enough times, people will believe it. Ffs the media have been calling him a shhite for four years, yet he still got 70 million votes, the size of the entire population of the UK.

To beat a guy like that, you need to think like him, take away the noise and he has nothing, Pelosi failed on all accounts. We'll now wait and see what the criminal lawyers can do, which will probably keep him in the news even longer, maybe for four years even, until his next campaign... <doh>

I agree, trump thrives on the attention. Cut it off and he’s got nothing.

trouble is though, what do you do ? Just let it fly because trump is a loudmouth ?

I think they needed to impeach him and have this trial, (even though it was obvs the republicans were going to vote it down) simply to demonstrate that you can’t get away with inciting an insurrection.

If you do nothing, it just gives a message that presidents can do and say what they want, with no comeback.

What do you do?...see my previous comment. Cut it off and he's got nothing, to repeat your words. <ok>

I said at the time Pelosi would achieve nothing, and in my eyes she achieved nothing, other than bring him to the forefront of public attention once again, claiming his aquittal. He's making a mockery of it, everyday this goes on longer.

Pelosi protected Bush over Iraq, but wants to bring the house down on Trump, so I'll say it again, she has her own agendas here, this isn't about what's right or wrong. She's held everything up in the house that Biden wants to do, just so she can try and get one over on Trump. It failed. Everyone knew it would fail.

As the journos said yesterday, Trump will go down in history as the president that had two impeachements against him. Do they really think he gives a shhite! Great he'll stand out in history, just what America needs.

All I see is him winding people up, wanting them to attack him, the more people attack him, the more ammo he gives his supporters. Great psychology that a lot of people don't seem to understand.

As for presidents doing what they want, most of them have. You only had to look at the people that attended Biden's inauguration.

Agreed, Trump is loving this.

I think the Republican party is pretty much done because of this now.

In 4 years time, 2 things are going to happen, either Trump will run republican which in turn will probably turn away a lot of the centre right or trump will run as an independent which will fracture the Republican base. Those moderate Republicans are in a hard place now.

They should have voted to impeach him as the nuts would still vote republican anyway as they are never voting democrat (unless they choose not to vote)

Yeah, I didn't understand the Republican tactics on this one. Very odd.

All I do Bobby is look at Brexit, Farage, the Tories, four years of arguments afterwards. The more you try and fight something, the worse you make it, because supporters just dig their heels in even more. I remember how some of the EU leaders use to wind me up with rhetoric, well Trump supporters will be going through that very same process of thought. Politics has become very devisive, and until people learn to take that division out of it, always expect the worse case scenario. People need to find the middle ground on both sides, and until they do, it's always going to end badly.

None of the supposed victims in any of those cases were willing to find a middle ground, though.

Meet me in the middle, says the unjust man.
You take a step toward him. He takes a step back.

Quite. I don’t recall any olive branches being offered in the immediate aftermaths of Trump’s victory or various votes here.

Which is why I think people shouldn't write Trump off just yet. It will be cry me a river in another 4 years, unless the Republicans suddenly undergo a brain transplant or Trump dies.

Trump could face a number of legal issues, but we all know how they tend to go with rich people.
He's had plenty of time to plunder the US, so it might depend on whether he's nicked enough to pay back those massive debts.
