About 12 years ago, I used to work with a bloke whose hobby was being a member of the Sealed Knot reenactment society. He used to dress up as a roundhead and go off to old Civil War battlefields to replay the Battle of Marston Moor etc.

Anyway, a group of them branched out into reenacting the US Civil War. And off a load of them went to Gettysburg, at the invitation of the Confederate Re-enacters Society; or some such group, which they assumed were nerdish history buffs like themselves. Only they weren't - these guys, on the Confederate side, were still fighting the Civil War. They really wanted to send the Yankees home in body bags, re-introduce segregation and probably slavery, and turn the clock back 150 years.

The point being, these guys aren't a new phenomenon; they are just one among many congregations of utter nutjobs who have always been around, and who rallied under Trump's banner.

Goes right the way back Nathan Bedford Forrest, the formation of the Klan and Jim Crow laws. Even Woodrow Wilson supported them. It's a throbbing vein that has run through American history for 150 years - the South just can't admit they lost the war, and those not even from the South that gravitate towards their ideals and beliefs (Idaho, ffs, and North Dakota?).

North Dakota and Montana are magnets for off-grid survivalist headbangers, and they're pretty fertile ground themselves for a guy like Trump.

The Trump show is over btw, he really did lose - bigly. The worry is, there will be other guys like Trump, and they may not all be idiots.

Think Ted Cruz has become the new Oswald Mosely - there's a tiger he can ride here, I'm sure he's thinking. But be careful what you wish for feller - these people get in power and you're one appeasement too slow away from a noose.

I've been calling for the 25th since November. but there was one fly in the ointment mentioned yesterday on CNN - apparently if he's not physically incapacitated, he can appeal to Congress, and it would then need a two-thirds majority in both houses to enact the 25th. yes, I too thought that was impeachment.
It’s probably his best option tbh. If he accepts the 25th in return for a pardon from Pence, then he’s off the hook for any charges relating to Mueller, sedition etc.

If he attempts the self pardon, then the State will be virtually obliged to press ahead with charges to test the premise and protect the constitution, as it’d set a truly dangerous precedent.

Cruz is a total ****. A fascist gobshite who needs to spend a good number of years staring at the bars of his cell.

Can see Mueller backing him into a corner.

Weird isn’t it? Ted ****ing Cruz has drunk the Kool Aid, or he’s pretending to.

4 years ago he was wearing $3000 dollar suits and trying to look like a Republican JFK. Now he’s gone full MAGA terrorist, in combat jacket, beard and sunglasses.

Just needs the MAGA twat hat and he's a good 'ole boy patriot pretending he's a latter day Sam Adams defending the constitution, fuelled on meth and Brietbart.

Seditionist Josh Hawley with this clenched fist to the mob...

He couldn't open it because you would see the blood on it.
He’s crying his eyes out claiming he’s been ‘cancelled’ today. As the publisher due to put out his new book have lobbed him.

Seems that being a fascist who openly tries to incite civil insurrection actually having consequences, hasn’t dawned on the slimey, self entitled, cock sucker.

The party of personal responsibility.

'Release the Kraken' lawyer getting sued for $1.3 billion by Dominion. Hopefully next will be Trump, he won't be able to bankrupt a company to get out of paying this debt. That's how they should go for him, don't bother with jail, make the whole corrupt family poor.

I particularly liked this bit

"Smartmatic has also said it will pursue litigation against election conspiracy theorists and media organizations that gave them a platform."

For far too long dubious ****ehawk media outlets have been spreading conspiracy BS unchecked. Well, this **** has real world consequences, as we saw in DC yesterday. I'm hoping that this is a bit of a watershed moment for cracking down on these shysters. Nobody wants to see an overregulated and censored press, but much of this is funded and promoted by rich right wing individuals with an agenda that has nothing to do with reporting fact and everything to do with trying to undermine democracy.

I see a police officer died today after being beaten with a fire extinguisher by those non violent protestors who were merely sight seeing.
