Apparently the first request to send the National Guard was rejected too. I'm not one to normally cry conspiracy but this stinks.

The Mayor of Washington was interviewed live on CNN yesterday. Apparently the Capitol has it’s own police, responsible for those buildings. They can request support from the Metropolitan Police, as well as the State Police, and the National Guard, but they were very late doing so; there appears to have been a communication problem.

Obviously there has been a **** up, but quite likely it was exactly that - a **** up.

The refusal to deploy the National Guard was down to the President’s office.

tbf a cop died trying to stop them getting inside so they probably should have just shot them all out at the front. Bit hard though, some of the mob had semi automatic guns and body armour so i'm not surprised they retreated and waited for the army to come by first.

At the point the women tried to climb into the secret part it was the last stand and my secret service just had to pop pop her ass

Having armed police shooting people on the steps of government buildings probably plays out even worse in front of the world’s media, than having a mob storm the building. Fine lines though, eh.

I haven’t seen that. But there is some deep rooted corruption in some of the police forces in the US. Unlike the UK where policing is governed by an overall national body, the US have a disparate set of rules for each force, and there are nearly 18,000 police agencies across the country.

It’s known that far right factions have infiltrated police forces in the US and there's even been pictures of a SWAT team officer wearing a Qanon badge on his uniform. So it's safe to say that there are more than just a few bad eggs in the Police in America. Unlike here, where if an officer is found to have broken policing codes and will be struck off from ever serving again, in the US, you can literally get the sack for being a Nazi cop in one town, and then sign up to be an officer in another.

I've just seen a video of a policeman directing people into the building. WTF?

I'll use your comment, to say my thoughts on the situation.

I suppose there could be a number of reasons for what occurred. Fear one of them, by that I specifically referring to the black cop that had to turn and run, once the nut jobs got in. Another probability is lack of communication from senior cops down to their thin blue line. I'd expect some cops were also Trump supporters, so we could write any narrative for that one.

I expect the main failure aside from lack of security, would be levels of command and the confusion of having different armed units. I'd imagine Pence's security would be of an entirely different level, to cops on the front line, do they even operate in sync, I'm suspecting there was no communication between the two armed forces (agents - cops). However, that would then bring into question any briefing that took place prior to the event.

It was a total fook up all round, but that don't excuse people for being where they were. I just know, people will now want to lynch the agent that shot the woman because she was just an innocent bystander, well that's one narrative I don't believe, see her tweets from the day before, nothing will stop them, her own complacency got her killed.

There was a clue as to was hiding in the Speakers chamber in both the name, the fact that the security detail had blockaded the doors with chairs and tables, and that there was armed secret service pointing actual guns at the doors. Yet she thought it was sound to plough on through wearing a back pack.....she was a ****ing idiot and got shot as a terrorist.

I doubt any of the ‘poor woman was murdered’ shouts would have been coming from the same people, had BLM breached the Capitol and the same thing happened to a black woman or a Muslim. Just saying.

If Parliament was stormed and Boris was ushered into a room with armed detail. and I then tried to break through the window with a backpack, I would expect the armed detail to shoot with lethal force. If she'd got through to the secure room and detonated a bomb, the armed detailed would have been crucified.

Should have mowed the whole lot of them down on that basis, imo, and would have done had that been BLM or Antifa.

I've been calling for the 25th since November. but there was one fly in the ointment mentioned yesterday on CNN - apparently if he's not physically incapacitated, he can appeal to Congress, and it would then need a two-thirds majority in both houses to enact the 25th. yes, I too thought that was impeachment.

About 12 years ago, I used to work with a bloke whose hobby was being a member of the Sealed Knot reenactment society. He used to dress up as a roundhead and go off to old Civil War battlefields to replay the Battle of Marston Moor etc.

Anyway, a group of them branched out into reenacting the US Civil War. And off a load of them went to Gettysburg, at the invitation of the Confederate Re-enacters Society; or some such group, which they assumed were nerdish history buffs like themselves. Only they weren't - these guys, on the Confederate side, were still fighting the Civil War. They really wanted to send the Yankees home in body bags, re-introduce segregation and probably slavery, and turn the clock back 150 years.

The point being, these guys aren't a new phenomenon; they are just one among many congregations of utter nutjobs who have always been around, and who rallied under Trump's banner.
