A tragic display by all sides. Surely Biden's advisers knew how this was going to go? Especially after Hilary. Biden shouldnt have engaged Trump when he interrupted and instead looked into the camera and spoken directly to the American public.

Having said that, he just needs to not look senile and lose the 7 point lead he holds. The owness was on Trump to pull voters over and if that sort of assault on democracy he displayed last night achieves that, then they deserve everything they get. It's a fanciful narrative, but there is no shadow Govt mate. There isn't even a proper functioning one in the US, let alone a shadow one running parallel to it.

What there is, is a conservative establishment that is wrapped up in big corps and wealthy individuals, on which it relies for it's funding and backing. In the US that's also compounded with a zealous Christian bent, that runs through both the centre and right wing of politics (there is no left wing other than Sanders).

Trump himself, is simply a deranged narcissist, who is only interested in Trump. There's a narrative running in the US that he's an anti establishment man who is going to expose them all and have them arrested etc, but this is woefully misguided thinking. Trump IS the establishment and represents the very worst of it. There are a lot of people putting misguided faith in him to deliver their right wing fantasies, but the guy is a ****ing mess.
