And regularly get killed.

It's easy to judge with hindsight but they have to make split second decisions.
It's normal for people to have guns, it's not a nice place to be a cop.
Of course there's bad ones and good ones who make bad decisions. It's a tough job.

Anyway if Biden wins he'll get rid of them and solve the problem. It will be Disneyland everywhere

... split decision yes ... but how could that not involve the fact that the guys kids were in the car ... and a shoot out would have put them at risk

Not a shootout mates. 7 bullets from point blank.

I can see what this Leeds newbie is saying though. Not sure the 7 bullets were appropriate but its not all black and white don't mind the pun.

The George Floyd one is a full on murder case though

Do you think he was worrying about his kids when he resisted arrest, was he worried about them when his partner had to call the cops in the first place?
Some people are all self mate, kids come a distant second unfortunately.

Floyd was murder, no getting away from that.

But where guns are there, or may be there, it's a whole different ball game.

He was black mate, and therefore innocent i the eyes of this forum.

Nope ... he had committed offences that he needed to answer to ... but none of those offences would have meant the death penalty if then convicted ... that was administered by a trigger happy cop as judge and jury ...

But it's ok if you want to walk past several police cars, holding a ****ing bazooka sized rifle.

... and the real issue here is what the cops would have done if a black youth had walked up with the same rifle and demeanour ... I doubt he would have been welcomed, handed a water bottle and thanked for his 'contribution' to maintaining law and order ... and therin lies the rub ... as the bard would have said.

As 've said just before. Police kill more whites than blacks..

It's the USA police, they just do their job....sometimes, like these cases they **** up badly.

But in a gun culture society, what can they do?

That I agree is at the root of the main problem ... but we both know that if a 17 year old black youth had been walking towards cops with an assault rifle the reaction of those cops to his appearance would almost certainly have been based, primarily, on the colour of his skin ... and that really IS the issue here ...

Absolutely true numerically but proportionally, I don't think so. Then you have to look at the reason the people are being killed, drunk in the back of a car, leaning into your own car, lying on the street with a police officer on your neck or involved in armed robbery, undertaking mass killings etc. No-one should expect to be killed by the police, even when they are doing something wrong or being arrested. There was apparently a knife in Blakes car, not a criminal offence in itself but perhaps a reason for the police to exercise caution in his arrest, but shooting somebody 7 times?

Anyone know how many black cops have shot unarmed white people in America?
The answer is out there but hard to find.

... on point ... if a white guy had leaned into the car would he have been shot? ... or would the officers have perhaps thought he was reaching for his phone? ...

Obviously I can't be sure ... but the cynic in me suspects that the magazine might not have been unloaded quite so fast ...
