You’ve literally just said one or two pages ago that when you were in America you seen the cops empty their magazines into a homeless white guy and it never made the news.

There’s plenty of videos from the US where cops have killed white dudes for nothing. It’s a culture of blood thirst more than racism, imo.

No. He should have listened to Police orders. He chose to act like that and he put his kids in that position, not the cops.

He could have been leaning in the car to get a gun, the Police aren’t going to take that chance and rightfully so. There’s history of that in the US, I’ve shown the video above.

As much as I think US police are ill trained, trigger happy buffoons who couldnt de-escalate a 5 year olds tantrum, I also have to query the wisdom of choosing to protest with the cop against your detainment in that moment, whilst a hyped up, meat head cop is holding a loaded weapon at you.
Just do as you are bid, try your best to make sure you capture the moment on camera, and make your complaint after the fact. Trying to argue with a lunatic holding a loaded gun at you seems like a stupid idea. Not the right time to take a principled stance!

I've only seen the video once, but surely there was ample opportunity as he walked towards the car door to manually restrain him without the need to shoot him. I'm sure that is possible without strangling people?

Anyway the whole thing is fcked. If you're allowing a gun lobby group to dictate the ownership and use of guns as a legal right then unfortunately the police need to be armed as well. Prevention is the best course of action and that means putting the horse before the cart.

Yeah, I think you’ve missed my point. I wasn’t saying that it’s okay for cops to shoot black people so long as they shoot whites too. I was saying US cops are trigger happy, and liable to shoot anyone. Probably still more likely to get shot if you’re black though.

The guy wouldn’t stop when ordered and went over to his car and leaned into it, still disobeying police instructions. The Police rightfully seen that as a threat and shot him. They’re trained to empty their magazines to make sure that threat to life is ended.

This is why the police, in the US, don’t allow you to go back and lean into your car...

Personally I've never disputed the fact by ignoring the cops, and reaching into his car the way he did, he had to be dealt with. What I question is whether it really takes trained firearm officers seven attempts to do it. Was it one for each arm, once for each leg, one for each ball and one for the cock

I'm guessing by the mess of the guys, colon, stomach and kidney, their aim was pretty good at point blank range. I don't know why, they just can't do like they do in the movies...

Whilst you make some good points and, of course, there will always be a risk that someone has a concealed firearm ... the guy had his 3 kids in the car ... was he really likely to initiate a bullet storm shoot out with several cops and risk the kids copping (pun intended) one in the cross fire?

As somebody else said ... what training are these guys getting? ... even ignoring that, common sense should have prevailed ... did they not have tasers?

Why cant they shoot to incapacitate and fire one shot.
I remember an instance I saw on film, it was in the US, in a mall parking lot, some mentally ill guy was having a breakdown, surrounded by like 7 cops, and they all just unloaded into the guy, they fired over 40 bullets, yet the guy was only shot like 6 times (I forget the exact figures but it was something like that).
This was in a public car park!! WTF did those 34 other bullets go?!
They were standing like 20 feet from him too!

When the cops shot Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta (June 2020) I remember the guys attorney telling the press, that one of the cop bullets went into a near-by car that had kids in it.
