Deeply insulting to the people of the Ukraine. How many lives of men, women and children were lost in his referendum? We have seen the response of the UK people to their plight, and he just doesn't seem to want to understand.
So our prime idiot has lowered the bar to a previously unfathomed depth... with rees-mogg somehow having a "hold my beer" moment. Or should that be hold my fluff? A more contemptible pair, under normal circumstances,I couldn't imagine... these aren't normal circumstances though.
Interesting move - France freezes 24bn euros worth of Russian central bank assets. I wonder what happens to it all at the end of the day - given to Ukraine to help with rebuilding?

I am no fan of JC (or JC for that matter
) but he has always been absolutely spot on about putin. Despite my misgivings about him, all "historical" I might add, I still voted for him because I absolutely knew for sure that the alternative was worse. I can remember being at an Aunt's party in the summer of 2013 whilst the LD's had a share of power and telling folks exactly what was going to happen: the LD's would be slaughtered at the next election (they were); tRump would be elected against HC as she was the worst possible candidate in the American public's eyes (he was); that tRump was as corrupt as could be and his ego would lead to a war on women, non-whites, gays, the environment, the 1st Amendment and the installation of a religious right wing SCotUS majority (prove me wrong); that farage is treasonous; that ukip leadership had their own vested interests.
The one thing I did seriously underestimate was the corruption within the higher echelons of the PCP. Totally misjudged that at the time but always in the knowledge of how low IQ45TM would sink that the self-servatives would try it on here: labour laws; environmental policy; hunting; taxation; the right to dissent; human rights... all of it. Scum, the lot of them and I do not think that is too strong a word - it doesn't convey my anger nearly enough.
I am afraid that the day the Labour Party elected JC as leader I came on here and said that in my opinion he would be a disaster for the party. My view was, and still is, that you cannot have a serial rebel attempt to bring a political party together, and we know that the Labour Party has as many differing views as do the Tories. Probably the nearest the LP has come to providing a period of socialist government was when John Smith was putting forward social policies alongside sound economic proposals. People had not forgotten Neil Kinnocks battles with Hatton, and the taxis going to hand out redundancy notices to council employees, and JC was far too close to the Hatton wing of the party.
My establishment sounding board friend said that no way could he ever vote for a communist, which he' thought JC was, associating that as coming out of Russia. I haven't spoken to him recently to find out how much he is upset by the way that his Tory party has been infiltrated by Russians and their money.
Can the JC idea of talking the war in Ukraine to halt work? I doubt it, and the only way I see a swift end to it is if Putin is deposed from within. Sometime people will see that the economy will crash, and take decades to rebuild, and somehow get this madman out.

I cried when I heard John Smith had died and had never voted for the L.P in my life at that point. Perpetual thatcherism was all I could see.
Countries whose economies crash can be dangerous places, often making desperate choices about who they see as 'strong' leaders. Blame for the collapsing economy won't all be levelled at their own leaders. Much as I'd like to see the back of Putin that may not solve much in terms of future east-west relations.
Is there much that can be salvaged from east-west relations now? It is very difficult to work out from conflicting reports just how much of his army has been degraded. If it is bad could we see a military coup? I don't know the answer, but would like to see him removed before he starts throwing chemical weapons into the mix.
Possibly not much to be salvaged but that in itself can make for a dangerous neighbour. Who does take power in a vacuum? I wouldn't have much faith in the military or the oligarchy to improve matters.
I fear there may be a move to the extreme right in Russia if Putin goes. Vile man, but it ain't over if he goes.
I think it's more than a little unfair to blame JC for Hatton. He should be judged on his own actions/failings, not those of others.
I wasn't blaming him andy. My point was that the perception of him was that he was too extreme, which was stoked by the right wing press and media in general. My friend thought he was something straight out of the Kremlin, but then he does have the Telegraph delivered every day!
Apparently he was ''straight out of the Kremlin'' and he was ''a Trotskyist'' - I've heard both of those said, with confidence; about Corbyn - of course the historical fact that the Kremlin actually had Trotsky murdered doesn't fit into the narrative and so they leave that bit out. In fact the easiest way to get an order for your 'disappearance'' from the Kremlin is to be too left wing ! Just as they tried hundreds of times to kill Tito. In fact the Kremlin has reserved their wrath very much for the left wing, or for anyone who was genuinely Communist - such as the way they militarily attacked the Anarcho Communists during the Spanish civil war. Their primary goal has always been to prevent Communism from happening, just as the primary goal of the Catholics has tended to be to prevent people from being truly Christian. The only leader of the Kremlin who actually tried to turn Marx into reality in the USSR was actually Gorbachov - because he understood that Communism was about the community and not about the state, that it was about power from below and not from above - that the end goal of it all was the dissolution of the state. He was the only so called 'Communist' leader who understood that but this was too dangerous for the Kremlin, just as true Christianity would be too dangerous for the Vatican. But still the majority in the west believe that the Kremlin is/was left wing - it fits the narrative well. Just as it fits the narrative to believe that Marx 'invented' the idea of Communism - rather that it being an idea with over 3,000 years of history.
