Gove has been talking about the end of 2020, and Hancock doesn't seem too bothered when we do leave. My best guess is that if BoJo got the job he would follow the May idea of can kicking, but it changes daily.

Corbyn by Christmas seems to be the buzz words of so many Tories at present. They clearly believe that if there were a GE this autumn they would lose. If that happened by accident then they would only have their right wing friends to blame.

Given that I find it hard to believe what the Tories say does this mean that there will be a Lib. Dem. government by Christmas?

Yes he has some undesirable traits but he is prepared to be a leader, a successful businessman and negotiator, is not afraid to call it how he see's it, is prepared to stand up to bullies and if someone crosses the line in the sand, he does something about it.

Of course he will act in his countries best interests, as will we and if the USA best interests do not coincide with ours then we walk away, something Mr Trump would respect.

A Liberal/Lib Dem Goverment is something I have hoped for since 1965 to see if they can ever fulfill their ambition to protect the economy and the people at the same time
The Conservatives have only ever been able protect the economy at the expense of the people and Labour have consistently destroyed the economy without fully protecting the people
My local Council has been Lib Dem for decades and they more or less keep their promises to the electorate

At the opening of the new British memorial in France today, President Macron said this.

"Leaders come and go. But the work they do continues and the power of our link goes beyond the events of a given moment. And dear Theresa May I believe that we can be proud of the work we’ve done together. The causes we’ve supported together in our two countries and internationally. We can be proud of the results achieved. This memorial is not the least example of it."

It seems she has more friends abroad than she does in her own party.

Nobody needs friends like Macron, the French are right when they accuse him of just being concerned about himself.

I am a Green party member.. But a middle of the road mixed economy govt is clearly what the country needs.. Why oh why can they not see it?

Did you hear the tone in which he said it too..? A lot of people would not get it in translation on the news.. Actually there was a real wisdom...

I watched the French coverage and noticed quite a lot through the morning. At the one with Trump there was a big difference between the two leaders. While Macron was concerned to see that some of the very elderly were steady on their feet, and helped them back onto their seats, Trump just stood there grinning and waiting for the cameras to click. Even his wife had to dig him in the ribs to go and help one veteran. One showed concern for others, while the other showed concern for himself.

Macron ratings continue to be well below that of President Trump. The French really don't rate the boy much.

That was taken as granted, I just wanted to highlight Trump's vastly superior ratings to the Macron boy. He is obviously not connecting with his public.

Why, when you repeatedly complained on here about the way posters talked about Trump, talking about the importance of respect to a world leader, do you, repeatedly, use denigrating terms about Macron, Merkel and others??? [emoji848]

I have no problem with posters on here complaining about Trump. I do believe he should have been able to visit our country to pay homage to veterans without being insulted in the streets. Politicians are fair game for banter and light-hearted abuse as you often practice yourself.

Interesting that you sought to defend him, when you yourself admitted his behavior is questionable. His policies are very contraversiol and many young people feel compelled to exercise their democratic rights to protest his presence...

Many commentators suggested his trip was more about cementing his image back home.. He certainly demonstrated very little empathy in both his actions and his words...

My next door neighbour had a home in Florida until he sold it earlier this year because he could not stand Trump and what he is doing to the country. On his final visit he was bitten by an insect and his arm started to swell at an alarming rate. He took himself off to the hospital where he was kept locked out simply because he only had French credit cards, which the hospital wouldn't accept. One of his American neighbours came to his rescue with her credit cards, and they let him into the hospital. A doctor came to see him, gave him a pill of some sort, and charged him $495 for two minutes of his time.
My friends home was on an estate where the residents had regular management meetings, and they all hated Trump. We should not forget either that he has the job despite the majority of Americans not voting for him.
We know that Farage is in favour of an insurance based NHS, just like the USA. If you want to keep your NHS, you need to dump Brexit, or people like Farage, Raab etc will sell it off beneath your feet for their own personal gain.

It would be a nail in the coffin of a caring Britain... That is one reason I love the EU.. Joined up health care for all...
