The Express getting a bit desperate now to find a story?

Minister Heaton-Harris says Calais’s “no extra checks” vow ain’t worth a hill of beans…..
“The European Commission can insist on extra checks at the border…..we would expect a tiny bit more of a check than the mayor of Calais suggests"

Brexit minister Chris Heaton-Harris says number of bits of secondary legislation to be passed before March 29 now “below 600”
So, only about 13 EVERY sitting day

Just to add to the story that SH quoted, David Lidington the cabinet office minister, also threw cold water on the report. Referring to the comments from the Mayor of Calais he said, "I understand your interviewee wanting to talk up the prospects of the port he represents, but, for example, European law says all food exports and livestock exports from a third country to the EU have to be inspected, 100% checked, at a designated border post. Those don’t exist at Calais or Coquelles rail terminal, which is where our livestock and food exports go through to the continent at the moment. So there is a gap in French and EU arrangements" Lidington also said that, under a no-deal Brexit, there would be tariffs of 40% on British lamb and beef exports, and 10% on cars. "Those are things that would do serious damage to employment and to living standards and to hopes of future prosperity and growth in this country."

At least we wouldn't have horrible foreigners imposing laws on us that we agreed on and voted for <ok>

RULE BRITANNIA

I don't know what people make out of this?

It's sort of what my last post was hinting at. Brexiters have been reduced to claiming that the only benefit from leaving is not having EU laws imposed on us. They're ready to pay any price for this, mostly because they're already retired or just unaware of the potential damage it will cause to everyone.

Is this the same David Lidington trying to bolster support for May's rubbish deal by using scare tactics?

Brexit has never happened before, so not sure what you're basing that on. No country has ever been as stupid as ours in recorded history.

There has been several dips in the FTSE index in the past including the UK leaving the ERM, it always recovers once certainty returns. If you bother to look on the long term chart the recent dip is minor in comparison.

If any of us had made a prediction like that you'd be calling bullshit on it too. You won't be as affected as others on here so it's just a game for you. Hope you're enjoying watching people suffer <applause>

I just pointed out what happens in real life. The stock market goes up and down, no big deal to most folk they would hardly know the difference. What is certain the recent dip is extremely minor and no doubt will recover when Brexit has been completed. Sterling is also well under valued, it will make a good recovery.
As for your last sentence it was just so childish. It didn't take long for you to revert to insults.

How is it childish? Why would you be encouraging the country to damage its own economy? If Labour had been in charge when this happened you would be rambling on about it for decades.

Read your own post. I said your LAST sentence.

You've said repeatedly that you're very happy with Brexit. It's making people suffer now, and it's only going to get worse. My statement is perfectly valid.
