We know SH. Those EU. bullies who have been kicking sand in our faces for the last 40 years, yet somehow allowing us one concession after another. Apparently this proud and confident nation which is now going to forge advantageous deals with the likes of Trump and China, was a 6 stone weakling in the EU

Merkel, (built like a tank), had Cameron in a headlock, he crawled back to the UK a broken man.
This whole exercise is costing the country billions, yet the people who have to provide basic services to the population are being starved of cash. Northants have gone bust, East Sussex is in a similar position, and the national audit office says that there are another few dozen who could follow. As someone who was close to local politics for thirty five years and provision of services in the county, this makes my blood boil. Today at the council meeting to push through even more cuts, 15 of the Tory councillors couldn't even be bothered to turn up. Just what have those two MPs Bone and Leadsom who are representing parts of the county had to say on the matter. Sod all. At least one of the seven Tory MPs in the county has spoken out on the subject. The government sent in commissioners because of the mess, but then we find out that they are costing £1,500 per day that the council has to pay, so a little less every day for essential services.
While certain MPs preen themselves and think about making sure that their investments are not taxable due to EU legislation, the ordinary family are the ones that suffer, but what does that matter to those who have no plans, just an illogical zeal.

No, Boris as PM and Rees Mogg as Chancellor would be a dream team, much better able to deal with the EU. The Tories have rebounded back into a healthy lead over a split Labour Party that cannot shake off the anti semitism scandal. Even the power broker McCluskey must now see Corbyn as a complete liability holding back Labour's very slim chance of power.
Boris and RM would be like Deeney and Vydra tearing up the Championship, terrifying the opposition

I think even you would balk at that one. Labour would have to ditch Corbyn and get someone with a bit more universal appeal in. Starmer or Benn for me.
Starmer would be a good choice he’s an intelligent guy who can hold his own in a debate. Yvette Cooper is also a decent shout imo.
A Johnson -Mogg partnership would be the end of the Tory party as we know it today. A right-wing cabal would create the final split in the party which is already on the edge over Brexit. There are plenty of good moderate MPs in both of the main parties, and a coming together of them could be what the country needs to get itself out of the current shambles. So a Johnson-Mogg partnership could see the end of both extreme politics and Brexit in one swoop.
Johnson and Mogg are two of the most popular politicians in the country at the moment. I would welcome their election. Up against the marxist twins anybody would win the next election.
It has come to a low point where you have to feed off Islamophobia to improve your popularity ratings !

Boris's comment would win him a lot of support in the country. I thought it was funny. The UK should follow France's lead and ban the burqa in public.
I said that I agreed with him that I personally feel a little bit uncomfortable talking to someone who I cannot identify. However - that is my problem not theirs. I would also not feed off such comments for political gain.You posted a thread saying you agreed with Boris
This does actually belong on a different thread SH. which you haven't contributed to yet. On there you will find that I am 100% against such a ban. When are we going to learn to judge people by other criterion than their appearance ? Bojo is latching onto the Burqa as the image which has become associated with Islam - despite the fact that only about 3% of Muslim women actually wear it, and, with the exception of Saudi Arabia, mostly voluntarily. Would you ban the nuns habit from public places as well ? Would you take the hooded clothing of protestant para militaries in Belfast as being 'the typical face of christianity' ? Or the actions of people like George Bush, who also claimed to be Christian ? Then don't do it with Islam.
I think the biggest difference is the face is hidden. I find that unacceptable on a practical level. Maybe we should have another referendum (popular on this forum!!) on the subject.
I promise to respect the decision of the referendum and not ask for re-runs.!!!
