Sterling threatened to do it, but our u18 team actually did it. I am so proud of our little club, and the players they produce https://www.skysports.com/football/...18s-walk-off-pitch-after-alleged-racist-abuse (Bet we get fined or banned or something by UEFA)
Official QPR statement on the incident: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-new...r-stance-against-racism-after-abandoned-game/
Outrageous that we - or any other club - has to resort to this in 2019 Well done for taking a robust stance
Shame more teams didn't take this stance. Spain have previous on this at international level... https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/fifa-fines-spanish-federation-for-racist-chants-cjn3g3fglct
Spain is full of those with real fascist sympathies, that have been passed on from older generations......proud of our team for taking a stand.
And therein lies the problem, as Beth said, we'll probably get a bigger sanction for walking off than the home club whose fans instigated it. Don't hold your breath for support from the Spanish FA or UEFA...
Racially abusing kids? ****in hell! No words, There's no way that this stuff should be going on in the game in this day and age.
I think that the big difference this time and other matches is that it was the opposition players rather than from the crowd. If this is the case then UEFA should throw the book at the Spanish club.
Well done to all at the club. I think the footballing authorities pay little more than lip service to the idea of stamping out racism.
Spanish club allege QPR player spat at one of theirs. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...se-youth-spain-walkoff?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
There are too many citizens who can take the moral high ground on racism, based on words and actions or their own. Standing up to racism is to be applauded but it isn't just an affliction of those outside these shores. Think about this as you read jokes posted on the board...or when you sing an obscenity at HQ....or sit near a solo artist in the loft.
I can honestly state that I've never heard any racist abuse emanating from the SAR area that I sit in Or from our fans at any away match I've been to Doesn't of course mean that there hasn't been any, just that I haven't heard it But given that I attend virtually every game each season I'm sure I would've heard something somewhere if there was genuinely a problem at our club
The point I was trying to make is that racism is not just a foreign state of mind. Read this in reference to outrage on the board to that article on the u18 walk off.i.e. some suggest this does happen at English stadiums and indeed at LR. There have been a number of well broadcast incidents in involving football fans in the last year at london stadiums or during travelling to or from matches.... although these were related to Arsenal, Fulham, Chelsea. I have certainly heard various comments directed at players with a racial undertone at LR, admittedly it is rare and usually isolated to individuals. At the Villa home match the noisy lot in the corner were slagging off a villa player going over for a throw or corner. Not sure what was said. A child seated beside my daughter and myself asked her guardian why were they singing that....his reply was it is because he is Irish. Just an example as my daughter picked up on this too...and that was her first visit. Also if you read through the jokes admittedly one of the best threads, there is a popular tone from some posters. I just try to provide balance, grass may sometimes be plastic or 4G but not always greener on home turf. Not meant to offend...honest.
