Bolton Wanderers are delighted to announce the signing of Will Buckley on a two-year deal.
The 27-year-old was last on the books of Sunderland having joined them in 2014, but spent time out on loan with Leeds United, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday in recent seasons.
Born in Oldham meanwhile, Buckley started his career with Rochdale and after graduating from their youth ranks, he impressed for the Spotland outfit – enough to earn a move to then-Championship side Watford in 2010.
After one season at Vicarage Road however, he made the switch to Brighton & Hove Albion, going on to make over a century of appearances in three years on the south-coast, scoring 19 goals in the process.
His efforts caught the eye of Premier League Sunderland and three summers ago, Buckley moved to the Stadium of Light.
And with his contract with the Black Cats set to expire at the end of this month, the wideman has put pen to paper on a deal which will see him play his football at Macron Stadium until the summer of 2019.
Speaking to bwfc.co.uk following confirmation of his move, Buckley said, “I’m really happy to be here. Bolton Wanderers is a massive club and they’ve offered me a real stage to help me get back to where I want to be.”
Manager Phil Parkinson added, “We're delighted to welcome Will to the club. He's a player with a lot of Championship experience and we're looking forward to working with him.”

Fabio Borini has signed for AC Milan from Sunderland, according to Sky sources.
The fee is understood to be £5.3m for the 26-year-old, who has been with Sunderland on a permanent basis since the summer of 2015.
The Italian, who has one senior cap to his name, began his career at Bologna before moving on to Chelsea and Liverpool, among others, without holding down a regular place at either Premier League side.

I'm at the stage whereby I'll go along with any departures whether the reason is tactical, financial or whatever.

In my opinion di Canio should've been allowed to continue what he started.

We've now arrived at a point, 4 years later, that he was already at and recognised the instant he walked through the door.

He wanted to ship out the slackers, install a proper work ethic and establish a real connection with the supporters.

I pray that Grayson will be the one who can achieve what di Canio instinctively knew was required.

I'm sick of people treating the club like a crutch for lame-arsed players who put in the bare minimum.

We'd have soldiers who'd run through walls if we'd kept Di Canio. Problem was our fans slow on the uptake too and took the side of the millionaire self serving footballers at our club. Shamefull the way PDC was hounded out for trying to do what the club so desperately needed. Still unclear how far it's set us back. I say Grayson is very lucky to walk into the club where all these sort of players are now looking to jump ship(Lets hope he's given the resources to replace them). Let em all go I say. Anybody over the age of 23 can go for me.

I'd let every single player at the club go tbh ..... get new players in who can't be tainted by the sickening culture that clings to the club.

Weve needed someone to do what di Canio would have done just without being an absolute fruit loop.

Hopefully Grayson will go down that road and go about it the right way.

All these players want to jump ship though. It's not like he's taken control of a top flight side with a squad full of these players all on the best contracts of their lives and having to try and break them or move them on. He's walked into a 2nd tier side where these players have just had their wages slashed and they all want off. He doesn't need to anything so can't get it wrong really. He gets a blank canvas, PDC never had that luxury, he had a squad full of arseholes and a majority fan base idiotically defending the jobsworths. Worlds apart imo. Think it's the one thing which will have really appealed to Grayson when applying. The ease he'll get rid of these nobheads.
