I'm afraid so, You should have gone for Norwich, Swansea and DQPR, or West Brom and Wolves if you didn't want to go for the completely obvious. <ok>

For an outside shot I'd have gone for Blackburn.

Dodgy owners, incompitent manager with no experience, Jones has left (with possibly Samba following) and it seems they're going for completely unrealistic targets - Ronaldinho being one of them :emoticon-0111-blush

Dont forget Sunderland are a 'massive' club. Another £100m spent another midtable finish.

I don't think they've spent that much! <laugh>

Anyway, I thought I'd give my opinion on their signings:

Keiron Westwood - Good keeper. Unproven in the top-flight.

John O'Shea - Not bad. Not great.

Wes Brown - Spectacularly average defender.

Craig Gardner - He's had one good season in his career.

Sebastien Larsson - OK player, but overrated.

Ji Dong-Won - Obviously I don't know a great deal, but he's only 20, so he could go either way.

Connor Wickham - OK striker, for his age, but is he ready to play in the top tier?

Sorry, I forgot about Blackburn, they're more likely to go down than West Brom or Wolves.

The deals were rumoured to be £16m(potentially rising to £20m with add-on's) and £18m(potentially rising to £24m with add-on's), so it will be somewhere between £34-44m(though it obviously won't meet all the criteria to actually hit that maximum figure).

A Sunderland fans views on their signings (JUST COPIED IT = NOT MY WORDS)

Although we have brought in 8 players. Only 1 actually exites me and that's wickem and he's unproven. I hope I get proved wrong but,

Brown - good defender
Oshea - good signing versitile
Gardner - one good season in PL
Larson - have never rated, no pace, no skill, but good delivery.
Chinese fella - can't comment
Wickem - could become great, but are we just a stepping stone?
Westwood - good championship keeper, but there's many.
Vaughan - I think championship player, didn't notice him at all last year.

Don't mean to be pessimistic but where's the player there which actually exites the crowd, can beat a man with skill and pace?

I know that there is alot of time left in the Market but going into the season with the players we have now, I don't expect us to be in the top 10. We need a good attacking winger, and a VERY good striker. I hope we get 2 marque signings in, then we are ready, but at the moment, our team is worse than last year.

Remember we have lost bent, welbeck, onouha, mensah, Henderson (wanted him sold to be fair)

But how do we replace bent and welbeck? We replace them and im happy ...

Coulnt be arsed to read all the posts but c'mon the guy gave his all for us, get well soon mate

Sunderland will do nothing next season, always going to be a team looking to get above the relegation spots, if Asamoah Gyan goes think they will barely scrape staying up

Bringing in decent players for yet another successful season !

woah lads, lets stop the infighting we have company.

cant let that sentence go geordie, another successful season?

you started well last season, with a frontman who you dont have. ALL your players seemed to get injured (thats not bad luck, thats bad management) and you went down the bog formwise. sorry mate, but the money youre putting about, top 10 needs to be achieved, top 8 if your confidence in fatty and co is on the money.

it wasnt a successful season, most sunlun fans i know couldnt wait for it to be over.

i usually wish other fans good luck at this point, but im petty and small fry (being a hull fan), so i sincerely hope you have a rubbish season.

Westwood was quite possibly the best keeper outside the Premier League last season and is a good sig

Both excellent players and on the cheap.

He had Premier League teams queuing up to sign him, he may or may not make it, but he's certainly not average.

Wes Brown - 15 appearances for the best team in England last season, including two in the Champions League. John O'Shea, 33 appearances for the best team in England, including seven in the Champions League and eight international appearances. As much time injured injured as playing? Righto.

Henderson was sold for two three three times what he was worth, it was good business.

You are more than welcome to shoot down Mackems that come on our board and to give an opinion on a player, but you went so far with your comments that you just made a twat of yourself. We'd kill to have to have those players sign for us, they sold their players for more than they are worth, while signing players that were worth more than they paid. I hope they have a **** season, I can't stand Bruce, but I at least know a decent player when I see one.

Thanks OLM, I'll take all of that as a compliment - I think !

Over the past few years Sunderland have spent some serious money but never seem to achieve anything
