Yeah, the Tories lost seats overall and UKIP wiped out.

So what happens next is anyone's guess but imo it's already too late for a Tory revolt so the Remainers in that party have to answer for their protecting their party more than their beliefs.

I can only see a hard brexit at this point. Why? The dup will pull the plug on the whole thing if northern Ireland ports and airports have customs checks as back stop.

On Brexit the obvious solution to the Irish border question is just give NI to the ROI - job done.

really can't see why no one else has come up with this :emoticon-0138-think

Conversely a hard border between North and South won’t get through either House, and the half arsed ideas that have been aired by the Tories as a supposed solution to that won’t get past the EU.

    It’s a ****ing car crash

I've yet to hear anyone come up with a workable solution which could possibly in place in time.
mind you i'm fairly certain that the mainland border system won't be capable of doing the job required when we leave.

Majority of thethe Repub of Ireland want a United Ireland. Majority of Northern Ireland want to remain part of UK.

    I propose a compromise.

Republic of Ireland becomes part of UK again and United with the North.

Both sides win. A United Ireland and the North stays part of the UK.

    I'm a political genius.

The hard border is fine by the Tories as they don't care. They don't seem to care that there will be shootings over it.

I don't even know if trade cross that border is even all that big a deal that a few grants to build whatever framing businesses on each side can't fix.

What non farming stuff goes over that border either way that would be an issue?

Trade for me is entirely about overall UK opening up regulation to allow crap food into the country to feed the masses that the eu doesn't allow.the UK has zero a d I mean zero to gain from regulations on medicines and drugs diverging from eu when the global push is to harmonise across the globe.

    I dunno.

The Tories heartland thinking there's a land of milk and honey to be had by cutting off the closest market in favour of markets much further away seems silly to me.

Surely the Norway model is the inevitable outcome here?

The channel tunnel and Dover should be interesting if a hard brexit happens. I am not sure quite how it will work.

Anyone trying to ship perishable goods through either will be just.

When the Tory who pop across the channel for their wine find they have to pay duty on re-entry they wont be pleased

    Errrrmmmm the Good Friday Agreement......

Norway are part of the single market and pay....the Brexiteers would want May hung for treason - not happening.

    Brexit is a complete nonsense, supposedly all about ‘taking back control’ (and not immigrants, nooooooo) but ask any Leave voter who spins that line the following question;

“Tell me which EU laws you can’t wait to see the back of when we leave? The ones that impact the most negatively on your life......”

Then get ready for some silence.....

It’s the biggest **** up in modern U.K. history.

Irrespective of it being a total **** up.

What trade is really a problem over the Irish border north and south. Imo it's not about trade it's about igniting a terrorist campaign again.

The dup are sitting laughing with the keys to it and the Tories don't seem to care at all.

The primary issue with the Irish Border isn’t trade it’s the good Friday agreement.

A hard Border simply isn’t possible. The DUP would be irrelevant if that was suggested as it wouldn’t get enough support in the house irrespective of those bible bashing lunatics.

actually there is quite a bit of trade but that isn't the real issue regarding trade, The real issue is if we are out of the EU & therefore the single market tariffs and controls can be avoided by directing trade thru the island of Ireland unless there are border controls but as part of the Good Friday agreement ,and our agreement in the first part of Brexit negotiations, we are committed to no hard border . Therefore how do we square the circle of controls but no border checks ?

so your proposing border controls between different parts of the UK - can't see that one getting very far.

Having said that Gerry Adams couldn't accept an invite from the GLC since the Govt slapped an exclusion order on him branding him a threat - but only on the mainland <laugh>

So in phase I the UK said there was going to be some sort of alignment on regulations between republic aka eu and northern Ireland.

Now in phase ii some agreement needs to be reached.

If regulations are aligned the only reason I can think why is food industries so how can northern Ireland have eu standards and the rest of UK can eat heavily processed rat guts from Indo-China or south America without some form of exclusion.

In effect a fudge was made in phase I to move on. There's no plan here irrespective.

It's the customs union or hard brexit now. The Tories have backed themselves in a corner by saying no customs union. Somehow they think a customs union of a different type Ccan be created in 3 months thats not called the customs union in which Britain is not subject yo European court (the same court the UK helped found before the eec ever existed)

The whole thing is inevitably going to flounder

We should build a wall across the channel tunnel and make the French pay for it.

Melania Trump is a really odd looking woman. Sometimes she can look very attractive, other times she looks really odd. There is something very reptilian about her something "uncanny valley" about her.

I'm sure it's a bunch of plastic surgery that has done it. Rather than age gracefully she has applied latex all over herself and looks weird now.

Not that any of this matters. I just find her face a little creepy looking. She's still much better looking than her orange spouse. <laugh>
