i dont really agree. i dont think its think too much. i think he froze. clear thinking beats either blind panic or rushing in every time. its like how some people can somehow be calm in an attack and help others while others will do more harm than good. paramedics and police are now calling these kind of people first actors and they are crucial to saving lives until paramedics arrive. if we contrast the police man in london who took on 3 terrorists with knives taped to their hands with only a truncheon to tbe deputy sherrif in florida... its clear that theres a gulf in responsibility and bravery.
Thankfully I've never been put in the position where I needed to find out how I'd react. It is safe to assume the "coward" had never been either or he'd have known he wasn't in the right job. So would his boss.
When you are trained you are trained not to hesitate and think in those situations, and for good reason. IT WAS HIS JOB TO PROTECT THE KIDS. he knew what was expected and he fell well below those expectations. I take back coward.. he wasn't, he just thought too much and it probably cost more lives. You can't think, you have to act, if you start pondering you start to doubt and think of the worst. That is the last thing you should do, and that guy could have killed far more than 17 kids too, and that bloke has to live with himself now, and tbh, I would find it hard to live with myself if I was him right now
if I did and worked as a guard protecting kids and I had a gun too, I would be lethal with that weapon, because why would you not be?
no mate you are trained to do the job which is to think and call bavk up then go in in a controlled manner and not kill more innocents.
Nonsense, if you have a gun, you are expected to use it in defence, what a silly comment otherwise why be armed?
We can debate whether he was fit for such a task and had the required training, sure I suspect he did not have that training
For the record, it was moronic of Trump to call him a coward, that guy is possibly contemplating suicide, that is a possible impact of this on the poor ****
err twas a joke based on your language but anyone with a gun has the capacity to be lethal i would have thought that was obvious doesn't mean they would act. Huge numbers of much better trained staff than this bloke haven't reacted as per their training because they couldn't for whatever the reason. In the circumstances you would expect a reaction from the guy even if he froze at the outset but you can never be certain how people will react.
I meant that if I was to take a job in the US as an armed security guard in a country where school shooting happen and gun crime in general (the school had kevlar curtains!!) I would be fine tuned, to protect others and myself, including kill house training Gotta have some pride in what you do
besides say if there was a situation at my own company with a gunman coming in and shooting up offices. Hiding under a desk makes you a dead man. on first instinct I think I'd wait right at a corner for the tip of that weapon to appear and grab it, your only chance imo, not about bravery, but about survival! That's just my first instinct on the matter, others would choose to hide, I'd fancy my chances better with my chosen instinct
what is it they say, sometimes the best defence is attack and in that situation, that holds true imo, instead of waiting for the gunman to walk into the office and shoot you
The one 17 year old with some military training, ripped down the kevlar curtains, and put it over the kids Then he armed himself with a 2by4 just inside the doorway and waited for the gunman. A 17 year old. Meanwhile the armed guard shat himself and did nothing The small training that 17 year old had was obviously superior to the guard's training
ah come on. you are talking about bulling in. i am talking about following trained procedure and doing the job properly. thats the difference. if he was trained right he should... a) report location, what he has heard/seen and status request type of back up needed. b) he should then go in with what hes got which should include body armour and a pistol. i shouldn't take him any longer to do that than bulling in and getting shot.
youd expect he was trained. the truth migjt come out there. i met a lad who was a deputy sherrif in the us and frankly id not have rated him above a big mouth joker but he had the job i suspect this guy was completely unsuited to the job and as such you have to ask is the guy in the sherrif job somewhat responsible too.
Agree. The guy knew he did wrong without the president of the USA telling the world. There is only one reason you employ an armed security guard. That is to protect the people or goods or premises. It certainly isn’t for decoration. If they are not trained then they shouldn’t be doing the job. It is almost like employing a body guard. I would expect him/her to do everything to eliminate the threat and keep me out of harm’s way. If they freeze and let the gunman attack and kill, it is the definition of gross negligence.
