Is Manquillo out for a while too? What have they said about him?

Trippier a big loss, but we can't be a 1 man team.

I'm with the school of thought of changing as little as possible. So changing to a 3 is a bad idea for me. Its took us ages to sort our life out, I don't want to try and change again. So either an U23 or youth full back steps in, or someone does some weeks out of position. Schar looks most capable to me.

What is going with Fede? He's been ****ed since last injury and he doesn't even get mentioned? Its weird.

Can we put Manquillo on the right? If so, a defence of Manq, Schar, Burn and Targett would be ok. Bring Bruno in as added protection and we might be ok. Teams like West Ham and Chelsea are dead rubbers and we would probably lose with Trippier in anyway. Its the other matches where we might come unstuck but from what I saw from Burn, I'm more relaxed

Ligament damage which could be 2 to 4 weeks I would think.

I've done that loads and sometimes it's fine quickly other times a good month.

Dang.

But Targett is back for next match and he good vs Everton, so left side is OK at least.

So what are the options? Murphy I guess, or maybe Fraser could play RB? Just keep Krapp out of the team, we looked far weaker yesterday as soon as he came on

So Trips got stood on (lad accidentally landed on his foot) at the end of the first half.

He came out 2nd half and knew he couldn’t carry on so to me it sounds like either a broken bone in his foot or a sprained ankle maybe?
I did say chaps.

Anyhoo we can’t cry over it it is what it is. Just our luck.

Watcher the highlights back and you can see when it happened.

Howe keeps mentioning Fede in terms of both his leadership skills and his fight & determination to get fit, but without ever referencing when he might return.

I agree about not mixing it up too much. 5 at the back is a risky change bearing in mind the team have been working so hard on the press using 433. To change that now could have a big impact and cause confusion. Let's see how long Tripps and Manq are out for, but for the immediate games, switching Schar to RB (if Lascelles is fit), with Targett returning at LB makes the most sense. Fraser has been working his nuts off recently so will offer support to the RB - even if it does have to be Krafth.

Indeed... I do still feel like Lewis should've got a number..

Can Targett play right? If so that would've been a simple fix if Lewis had a number and not ritchie

Depends on his injury. Manquillo might also be out for a few weeks too.

Some names had to snipped, I would have got rid of Gayle straight away, but I guess they thought they needed a back up striker.

Targett is best at LB so we should leave him there, Garth Crooks is saying Burn can play anywhere across the back 4, but it's Garth Crooks so he's probably talking out of his rectum. Plus Burn looked great in CM, so if it ain't broke don't fix. I guess Dummett will be the stand in.

Same i've sprained both my ankles multiple times can be a nightmare.

Craig Hope says the word this morning is it might not be too bad.

If he is out though i'd go to 3 centre backs, **** playing Krafth.

Seen a few people suggesting 5-4-1 (diamond) dropping Fraser and Maxi with a diamond of Willock, Joe Bruno AND Shelvey
-------------Wood
-------------Willock
-------Joelinton--Bruno
Targett--Shelvey--Fraser
--Burn-Lacselles-Schar

Interesting though! I'd have been thinking of 3-4-3 sacrificing a CM tbh or 3-5-2 to maintain the 3 in CM but a diamond is actually a really interesting idea...

Joe and Bruno covering the lateral wide positions to support full back and Willock and Shelvey occupying the middle.

A lot putting Murphy as FB but I'd go with Fraser as a WB and Targett on the other side if this is the way we go.

WTF is wrong with you?! I mean, how many goddam times....

There's a clear familiarity with what we're trying to do here. Eddie basically needs to get one of his coaches to spend the entire week with Krafth teaching him how to press. The other 10 should stay exactly as they are, with obviously Targett slotting into LB. You don't win 3 on the bounce in the PL purely by luck. We still haven't really hit our best ability either; people keep telling me Wood is a footballer, so once that happens we may be even better. Everyone else just improves each week so leave them to it.

Trippier is a leader, but so is Dan Burn (who didn't play in Trippier's first two matches) and Targett is also well organised. The pair of them may, from a mental standpoint, be able to cover Trippier. Then it's just coaching on Krafth. Clearly a weak link, but he's a Swedish Intl at the end of the day. Manq may even be fit.

3 at the back fundamentally could work. Fraser is probably ok at the RWB job, no idea if Targett could do it on the left. The one issue is then Wood/Max. That's not gonna work. One can't pass, the other can't shoot.

Ultimately I'll trust to Howe.
