Isnt amazing that the great diamond that has brought us so much success has just been completely dropped! Altough not used all the time last year, when used at certain points it ripped teams apart especially arsenal at the emirates So many clubs play with only one striker now, you only need to look at Man City, Chelsea... hell barca dont even play with a striker some times Our squad as a whole is now geared up to be the same and as i said the other day at present we dont have a striker good enough to compliment the side as that lone striker! Vaughan is one of our highest earners and is injury prone, CH is looking to offload him for those 2 reasons plus making space and getting a small fee back for what we paid for him so it go towards THIS striker that is 1 of 2 missing peices of Hughtons jigsaw puzzle
It is really very simple... Sell Morrison and Vaughan Buy Rhodes and Loan (IN) Guidetti Personally I feel that Jackson has a part to play this season, and with Snodgrass giving us another option as a Winger, with Holt as the main striker playing with Rhodes, has a good balance to the team, with Guidetti as the dark horse so to speak. He must be good as he is playing for Sweden at International level and was supposed to partner Ibrahimovic at the Euros. Plus buy this Blackburn goalkeeper, loan out Rudd to a Championship team, with a recall clause inserted and revaluate at January, whether to keep Ayala and Rudd out on loan or bring them in to help the push in the 2nd half of the season. Plus loan this Spanish LB. Sorted, now where's my advisor fee gone...
Man City alternate between 1 (Aguero) and 3 (Balotelli and Tevez/Dzeko): so not always, sometimes their 4-3-3 is devastating Barcelona always play with at least one striker, namely Messi, the reason being Villa's injury, but now that he is back they will revert to 2 up top as usual. We should play to our strengths namely our midfield, hence 5 man midfield and solitary striker is most appropriate, given we have the likes of Pilkington, Snodgrass, Howson, Hoolahan, Bennett, Surman, Fox, Johnson, Butterfield at our disposal, with the only weak link being a lack of an out and out DM like Bridcutt.
Another thing, I have been dying to see 4-3-3 with: Rhodes-Holt Pilkington-Surman(Bridcutt my choice)-Howson-Snodgrass Garrido-Bennett-Turner-Whittaker Ruddy Devastating is what springs to mind.
Surely people realise there are striker abroad who represent much more value for money, yet people want to buy a fairly overpriced only proved himself in League 1. That's the bit I don't understand personally, definitely options abroad, I would even rather have Guidetti than Rhodes as he has done it in Eredivisie. Yet I don't think he would cost us £7 million.
Guidetti would only be available on loan, he would cost a fortune surely. Perhaps Man Utd could be nice and loan us Hernandez
I think if someone offered £5 million they'd accept. Balotelli, Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko. I know it's the daily mail but..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...riker-John-Guidetti-set-Feyenoord-return.html Hardly surprising as well, he won't reach his potential going out on loan for the next 4 seasons. I can't really see him trying to break Tevez, Aguero, Balotelli and Dzeko in the next few seasons myself.
Messi isnt actually a striker, the same stands for ronaldo To be fair since tevez has got all his toys back in his pram, they seem to play aguero and tevez up top but befor that they usually lined up like.. Nasri Aguero Silva Dzeko/Balotelli and they use to alternate the players, but thats the bonus of having so many talented attacking footballers who can play a variety of positions, were not so lucky. We wont be signing Rhodes for the umpteenth time, and Guidetti is very unlikely but we shall see what Mr Hughton has planned within the next week or 2
Not sure whether you read the article I posted. I have a feeling Guidetti is holding out a little bit from Feyenoord (reading between the lines, if that article is true), probably would rather a Premier League move. All assumptions and optimism mind. Also extremely difficult how much he would go for, it seems Man City don't want him, and they are oil rich, so it might be pretty cheap. Same time you don't know how much Man City rate him.
Dunno why anybody would want to see him go. As somebody already pointed out, he got a good goals tally in his first season in the PL whilst carrying an injury for the most part. I'd be gutted to see him leave, personally.
I agree, though there are certainly quite a few who'd be glad to see him leave. Yes, he had a lean spell, but he scored some excellent goals for us as well. You'll always get fans who only look at the negatives ('Canary Call' callers are high up in that group!!)
agree. i certainly wouldn't be offloading morison. he's a vital squad member who offers us goal threat. i can't actually remember, but was he getting grief from fans in the first half of last season when he was scoring goals? i can't recall anything - it all started when he hit a bad spell, which coincided with his injury.
I think you probably already know that I'm not a great fan of playing the lone striker, it looks desperate at times, but I agree that for some games it's a necessary formation. What worries me most is that our midfield don't seem to have the attacking mindset and tend to play far to deep. The Borussia game was a bit more like the way I like to see our midfield play, they were mostly across the halfway line and the defence pushed up as well, OK we lost the game but it looked more like the Norwich Way. I agree with Holtysboots, goal scoring looks to be difficult and needs to be freshened up, or maybe just push the wingers further forward, that in turn may wreck Hughtons seemingly new found defensive solidarity which we desperately needed! I love the passing fluid game that we've become used to over the years, it's what I enjoy watching, I don't like the other way but accept it's part of our system now! Just as well I'm not the manager eh? ILD OTBC
I can understand the vaughan thin as he is injury prone, but id only sell Moro if we had someone much better lined up to replace him!
you know how much i love foxy! the issue is, he is not a holding man - he is a classy player and he is good at dictating tempo etc but we need someone who will be more competitive in that role. sadly, fox is not that man. he should still stay as he's a very useful player to have here but he isn't the answer for that particular role. anita would have been the perfect man but he's gone to newcastle. bridcutt is the cheaper option - i'm a fan but whether he will be good enough to play that role is questionable i suppose. i'm very keen for hughton to fill this position urgently. forget strikers - its this position which has been our achilles heel for a long time
What about Nzonzi? I thought he was pretty good at CR and the handball where gave away a pen was not really a pen.
great shout - i mentioned him earlier in the summer but i keep forgetting about him! i would worry we can't afford his wages but that's precisely the sort of talent we need to play that role
