Considering Brum were offering 500k for vaughan, i cant see them being able to afford Moro. Deep down i think CH is concerned about our forward line and is looking to brining in a top notch striker who is use to playing up top on his tod <ok>

I have it on good authority from my contact at the club that CH is trying to offload Vaughan and Morison to free up the funds for Jordan ....... <whistle>

This would be fantastic news and we could probably put the rest of the money towards a much much better, mobile and younger target man (not just an aerial threat) and some technically gifted goalscorer.

I like vaughan but I'd swap Vaughan and Morison for the above and the rest of our transfer kitty.

If it is true then I can't imagine Hughton doesn't have 2 strikers lined up to replace, I'm quite excited by the prospect.

I've heard it runs to 3 figures!

£1 - 9s - 6d

So just enough to cover a packet of Morrisons own brand ginger nuts then.

I know we're not the richest club but it doesn't make sense selling two strikers one in scoring form, just to buy another who hasn't even been tested at Championship level.

How much do we actually have to spend this summer?

Personally, I think around £12 million, which will include January as well, . No idea how much he'll put away for January mind. If this is are biggest budget according to McNally

I calculate we spend about £12.8 million last year on players:

Ryan Bennett £3 mill
Jonny Howson £1.5 mill
Daniel Ayala £800k
Anthony Pilkington £2 mill
James Vaughan £2 mill
Elliott Bennett £1 mill
Steve Morison £2.5 mill

That's the rumoured figures, that I seem to remember, but I would have thought it was more like £10 mill when you take into account deals may be structured and not all paid up front. Obviously they may not be 100% right so.

ILD, are you worried about playing one up top because you don't like the thought of it or what?

it can be a dynamic way of playing if worked in a certain way and we certainly have the attacking midfielders to play that way. i personally prefer it - 4-4-2 is dated and although it still works for some teams, i'd rather go down the fresher, more flexible route of 4-5-1/4-3-3.

two problems, holt is not good up top on his own and we have no holding player for it to work properly at the moment, so holty's boots comment about looking for a new forward who is capable of playing as the lone striker rings true to me with everything rumour-wise being bandied about with regards our strikers being offloaded.

i suspect carrabuh and yourself would enjoy the more fluent football that formation presents too <ok>

Personally I can Hughton switched between 4-4-2 and 4-5-1, similar to last season in a way. Probably without the fullbacks being so attacking so I would expect the midfield to have a lot more prominence going forward. Agree about holding midfielder, I still think there will be a few more signings personally I think another 4 players may come in, including Mark Bunn, a holding midfielder, centreback (if Ward leaves) and striker (if right one comes along).

Saying that not heard much else on Forest being interested in Ward.

it's important that we can still play a variety of ways. that includes differing formations and also the capability to go direct if required. failure to adapt to games and opponents could lead to our downfall. as you say, hughton mixed and matched last year so i see no reason why he won't here - we have the players to be able to do that as proven under lambert.
