I'm taking my mum and daughter to Manchester Airport tonight at 1.00 in the morning.Just hope the weather is o.k.

I'm keeping cool about it outwardly but feel a little apprehensive.

Any tips Ernie?
I did Manchester in the early hours about 10-15 years back when it snowed stupidly during the day. All the buses stopped so had to walk 90 minutes home from work in thick snow. Got pelted with snowballs by the nobs in Hastings as I walked past.. Roads were solid ice, etc.

At 2am the roads were still ice, so crawled out of Hull, giving myself +2 hours to normal. As soon as I hit the M62, the roads were magically clear. No problems all the way.

I’m sure you’re all delighted to know that I’m sat in a restaurant at the top of a mountain in Austria eating goulash, drinking beer and looking at the stunning views

It’s not all easy though...I’ve had to put my hood up as the suns a bit hot

Did you get pissed enough to hijack the controls of the ski-lift Den?

Made it there and back safely but with a few hairy moments when the road disappeared and I had to guess where I was around Ferrybridge. Saddleworth was a whiteout and virtually no visibility at all. Gritters all over the place but no traffic to mix it with the snow. Coming back I got held up for 45mins as some smartarse in a Merc stuffed his arse end into the central reservation instead of just following everyone else. Don't want to do that again too soon.

Alan: Oh God, yeah, yeah. Fascinating creatures, though. Looks like a lady, but really it’s a man. I don’t find them attractive, it’s just confusing.
