Can we get the deal over the line though? There must be dozens of other Clubs scrambling for his signature
Gilbert this season- played - 340 mins of football 1 goal 0 assists 10 touches in the Opposition box I’d politely suggest that this is neither an ambitious or a serious loan signing.
Fiorini, Tedic, Lua Lua, Bakinson, Penney, Kane, Bonne, Kilkenny. Just a handful of this regime’s recent barnstormers in the transfer market Forgive my scepticism about this kid.
Sorry … I forgot to add Camara & Ladapo to the recent list and Allen Campbell, Potts & Hylton (Luton Dad’s Army). You need a pair of long tongs every time you judge a signing from this mob.
And before anybody pipes, up, you'll always get an exception to the rule. On the 1st January GFP were firmly thinking to not spend dough as the season was f*****. Now after a run of games they are now flapping as they know we can finish in a play-off spot. However, with that comes spending dough to cement things, but they do not want to do that. C****!
29 hours to go (assuming the window closes at 11pm tomorrow). I know we can recruit free agents after that, but everyone knows how much use they will be. We might as well play more of the kids.
Yes but that does not mean he isn’t any good. I remember a lot of people moaning about Gallagher. That didn’t turn out badly. I am just playing devils advocate here. But why not wait and see, then we can judge. Middlesbrough supporters like him.
I admit to being doubtful that Edwards could make the big step up from the Scottish Premier League to Division Three in England.
It’s not the best comparison- Conor Gallagher had captained his Chelsea teams in every age group, including Academy / Under 18 Captain. Gilbert has done almost nothing of note. The scepticism stems from us having signed so many of this type of player (often injured, never plays, no track record) in recent years.
By the way @Dick Plumb1 I'd like to think I speak for all here, including Elfs, when I say our scepticism or even cynicism regarding Gilbert is not meant as a dig at you. Your willingness to give him a chance (should we sign him) shows admirable patience. For my part, patience with January signings ran out a long time ago. But our differing views and levels of optimism for possible futures should not divide us. Don't take our pessimism personally.
