Charlton Athletic can confirm that Dan Potts has departed the club following the expiration of his contract.

The 30-year-old joined the Addicks on a short-term deal in September 2024 having made 165 appearances under Nathan Jones at Luton Town previously.

Potts featured three times for Charlton and played a key role in driving the men’s first-team environment at Sparrows Lane.

Manager Nathan Jones said: "Dan came in and made a difference in helping us establish our culture. We’re grateful for the positive impact he’s had on the environment and wish him the best for the future."

The club can also confirm that Danny Hylton’s contract has now expired and he will continue to train with the men's first-team squad.

Jones added: "Danny has been really important in developing that culture and supporting the development of our young strikers, with his experience proving invaluable. He will continue to train with us and we’ll assess the situation again after the transfer window has closed

Can we afford to let Potts go? What will happen to the culture that he helped establish? Up to Hylton I suppose.
That was some b******* Jones came out with. He's a miserable c*** at the best of times so I imagine he was able to keep a straight face when he said it.

As the resident “ignored” bluebottle over on Charlton Life, you should post exactly that, and see what reaction you get <whistle>

Fast forward to next Monday, and let’s play “Andy Scott bingo” when he’s wheeled out on Charlton TV-

1. A really difficult January window - 10 points
2. We resisted massive (fictitious) bids for our best players - 25 points
3. Other clubs know we are a massive club with a massive budget, so never easy - 20 points
4. Planning for the (fictitious) Summer transfer spree has started already - 20 points
5. Turning down Arsenal’s last min bid for Gassan Ahadme shows just how badly we want promotion this season - 50 points

We'll not see him interviewed again.

Of the 5 (?) Luton players, Potts hasn’t been the worst :smiley-finger007:
Hylton, Campbell, Berry, Potts and...........................?
A fine body of men. To misquote Wellington "I don't know what effect these players have on the opposition, but they frighten me"
