Needs must though, if we go chucking money on players plus high wages we could be back here again. We’ve stopped the risk of financial suicide let’s progress up the league. If it’s too slow then so be it, but let’s stay financially in the right side of the line.We all have days like that RoD.
I agree with the thrust of the post. I’m hoping now he has a bit of money, his recruits will not take as long as Tanner did , and Wilson is still doing, to settle in and adjust to the championship.
Atkinson is the only one we’ve really spent money on and he seems to have faired a bit better.
Of course I’m not suggesting we buy marquee players, but on the other hand we don’t want to be in the position we were in around Christmas, next season we really need to be bottom of the top, rather than top of the bottom, if that makes sense. Anywhere from 3rd to tenth I’d be hoping for.Needs must though, if we go chucking money on players plus high wages we could be back here again. We’ve stopped the risk of financial suicide let’s progress up the league. If it’s too slow then so be it, but let’s stay financially in the right side of the line.
Disappointing that Nige doesn't think a more experienced keeper is a priority
I don't want O'Leary to leave, just to learn from someone who is more experienced at this level, who will help him with his decisions and judgements.
Brian Clough always said the backbone of the team are the 3 most important positions, and it's hard to argue
Keeper
Centre Back
Centre Forward
Get all three positions right and you've got a great change of achieving something.

To be totally honest I would love to see SL stay and see us promoted with Nigel at our helm but if we don't come close next time out then that would possibly be the time he heads for the hills after selling the club. Whatever happens on the club ownership front we owe a great debt of gratitude to Steve for his stewardship and major financial support of Bristol City during some telling times.![]()
Nigel Pearson responds to striker speculation amid Bristol City links with Kevin Nisbet
Bristol City have been linked with two forwards in as many weeks but strengthening other areas of the squad remains a priority

Fair enough, we have to avoid getting in the mess we did before though, our recruitment needs to be cute, we need to replicate Millwall, Luton and Coventry, all who ended up either in, or in Millwalls case just outside, the playoffs. We can’t afford the wages of marquee players. Not too sure that a guy with 12 goals in L1, or someone from the Scottish PL is where we should/need to be buying from. It feels a very mid to low table ambition for me. I am concerned we have, and continue to look to do a lot of business in these areas.

Think we need to sell Scott for the real business to happen.
Agreed, IF we sell Scott I’d hope we don’t use too much of the money, for once keep some for later. Not necessarily, we should still have a good amount left from the sale of Semenyo. If it's spent well, we shouldn't HAVE to sell Scott.
