Did you even read my post?
Where did I say that they should let us have the player?

He should have just said, "No, we are rejecting the bid", instead of getting arsey about it being public.

Why can't he get arsey about it? If you've asked us privately and we said he's not for sale, then why go public with it?

He's just being honest and showing some passion, nothing wrong with that.

Because it is stupid.
Its the transfer window, you are going to receive offers for your players, private, public or whatever the ****.
Just reject them if the player is not for sale, don't go on TV and throw a strop.

I'm sure Maureen wouldn't say a word if Barca came stomping in for Hazard or Costa like,,,,,,,,No of course not <doh>

Then he would also be stupid. <doh>

But he would probably make a joke of it.

Publicising the bid is tapping up. You are letting the player know and putting pressure on him, hoping he'll start getting unsettled. Why else would you publicise it?

Its not tapping up at all, in the slightest.
Tapping up isn't putting pressure on a player.
Lots of clubs make bids public all the time, its is a tactic for sure, but within the rules. In fact players are informed of private bids aswell anyway. So making it public doesn't heap any further pressure on a player unless you you count media pressure.
But if the player doesnt want to leave, he wont leave regardless.

I will say again, tapping up is when the player and/or his agent and the buying club meet up or contact each other without the consent and knowledge of the club the player is contracted to (ala Ashley Cole when he met up with Jose behind Arsenals back)

You could argue it is a tad bit unethical I guess.
But lots of clubs do it.
Its not against any rules like tapping up is.

Jose said at the weekend we were only adding 1 player to the existing squad unless we sell anyone. Presumably that's a defender in light of the public Stones bid.

Where does that leave the squad then? Strikers being Costa, Falcao and Remy presumably.

He said we had 5 wingerS. Hazard, Cuadrado, Willian and who else is he counting? Salah apparently not. Moses? Oscar? Oscar is not a natural winger and first choice number 10 at the moment. This was all to deny links with Pedro which would be a great signing IMO.

Happy to get Stones, if we do.
However, a little disappointed that he isn't looking for a CM to sit next to Matic.
Oscar and Fab can play there, but both like to be further forward and are somewhat wasted there imo.
And Mikel and Ramires, the other options for that position, are mediocre imo.

I would have

-------------Courtois-------------

Ivan--Cahill-----Terry----Dave

--------New guy--Matic---------

Oscar--------Fab-------Hazard

----------------Costa-------------

Sell Mikel and Ramires, buy a new CM, if he gets injured, stick Willian in the attacking front 4 and move Oscar back, or stick Willian in there, move Oscar to No 10 and have Fab next to Matic.

I just can't work out why he thinks we have 5 wingers?!

We have 3 with the possibility of Oscar or Ramires playing wide if we have to. Surely Moses isn't going to figure this year and anyone else is going to go on loan or be sold like Piazon, Salah, Marin.

Assuming you need at least 2 players in every position and 3 for keeper and striker - Pedro would slot in nicely in the squad.

Just a little concerning that there doesn't seem to be any real freshening up of the first team itself. As thinks stand, even with Stones (which probably wont happen), we'll be playing the same 12-13 players most weeks as we did last year.

Didnt Jose say Moses will figure for us this year?

So that will be Hazard, Willian, Oscar, Cuadrado and Moses.

I know Oscar plays mainly Central but he can be a winger, we have used him there many times.

Yes he did, yesterday.

He took the same approach when they tried to sign Rooney. The information was leaked by Chelsea, United's stance was that the player wasn't for sale and Rooney made no comment. In the end Mourinho publicly called for Rooney to hand in a transfer request. It's not against the rules of the game but it's a ****'s tactic.

Name is Traore, Bertrand Traore. Not worried about wingers situation.
Won't sweat much as long as we promote LC & Ake to learn from and partner Matic.

CB & Striker are where we need cover.

If ya like <laugh>
But yeah, it is most definitely not tapping up.

Sorry, I just have no confidence in this happening whatsoever.

Yup, Deffo won't happen. I think LC looked good and would like him to get some games. (Oscar dropped obviously :P). But knowing Jose, he will play the same 11 as last season. As soon as someone gets injured/rotated it will be ramires or mikel in. The youth don't have a chance. We would probably be better off loaning then off

Well if that's the 5 then I am a little concerned. 2 brilliant wingers, a number 10,

I actually think RLC will get some action this year. Don't think any of the others (youth) have a chance and it's clear Bamford will be off given Remy looks like he is staying; Palace apparently.

I wouldn't mind Bamford going out on loan to a PL club to be honest.
He won't get games with us ahead of Costa, Remy and Falcao.
Bamford proved he had the minerals at Championship level, lets see what he can do in the PL.

If he gets a lot of goals, means we can sell him for a decent price when Jose decides to actually flog him :p

No, it's not. It's not against any rules, whereas directly tapping a player up is. Do you think the club says absolutely nothing to the player or their agent when somebody else bids for him?
