But we knew our financial situ when warburton signed. Nothing's changed in that time to prevent a striker being got even if it was at the expense of another midfielder/ goal keeper. Moronic management either from him or from behind the scenes.

Mmm.....I for one don't share your pessimistic view.
I reckon we'll get another forward in to add to the loanee we already have and I liked what I saw at Oxford Utd.

CCJ...... Perhaps you're right but I feel so disillusioned and I am not sure why more this season than last. Trying to get two strikers in a week when we've known since wells and hemed went back defies belief.
Hugill and or Rhodes/ hogan would be great but they'll have not time to settle in or have played Any pre season with us to know our ' style'.

We have just brought in a striker from Slovenia on loan from Brighton havent we, or was that just rumour.? I thought I read it on the Official but cant see it now for promotions for the Watford game...

there are 38,239 games in a Championship season, plenty of time for whoever joins to settle in and not damage our lower mid table prospects. Plus it’s only July.
I've posted this already but with every 'in', and some of the 'outs', I'm getting more excited.
We have a manager with a good championship record, a team that is his from the start and a whole pre-season to set the team up in the way he wants to.
I was honestly mentally prepared to see all the better players leave and be replaced with kids from the academy!
I am excited even if it's just to see the new manager and team in action.
Even thinking of a cheeky fiver on us to win the playoffs!!

I guess the real fear is that we have a bad start to the season (as we did last year). It’s a hell of a task to mould together so many players and talk about getting them to be able to play to a positive and exciting style from the off. If a bad start happens he is likely to have fans on his back pretty quickly screaming “I told you so” loudly in each ear.
I think we may all be holding our breath for MW and this team of newcomers and hoping we can make something happen pretty quickly. Time to dig out the lucky underpants and socks for next week everyone (if you have any left).
It’s a really long season, a slow start is no problem as long as it’s followed by decent and above all consistent results. Last few seasons we’ve had zero consistency. 60 points is progress.
Strikers are the most notoriously difficult position to recruit in, especially in our bargain bucket position. Anyone with real pedigree is wanted by every other club and they go for silly money. Championship strikers in particular go for huge fees but rarely deliver (Rhodes, Mccormack etc). We don't really have much choice but to see what possible loans shake down from other clubs. We've got to hope if it is someone like Rhodes they still feel they've got something to prove. If there were deals to be made early we absolutely would have done it, I don't think we can blame the management for this.
No disrespect to the developing Chinese football league, but if Gareth Bale is really going there from the Bernabeu for £1m a week, then it is really only about the money for the man.
I was reading an article on the Beeb website this week that showed him to be the most successful export ‘failure’ from these shores. Apparently, he’s known as The Golfer by his teammates and has never bothered to learn the lingo during his 3 years in Spain.
Despite his talent - and taking into account his ‘sicknote’ tendencies - he sadly seems more content to earn than perform.
