at the end of the day, regardless of position, someone is only worth what a club is prepared to pay. And a selling club can either say no, or ask for more or maybe risk someone leaving for nothing at the end of their contract or have a player who refuses to play.
If I was Freeman, the fact a new premiership side was after me would turn my head. However, if I was happy where I was (work life balance etc), and could see positives at my own club I might be prepared to stay.
I think Maguire is a good player, I agree with Dave about that maybe £65 mill is excessive but then Liverpool spent £75 on a defender. Citeh spent £50 mill on Walker and something like £40 plus on Stones (who is a bit of liability at times)….
Replacing Vincent Kompany is / was always going to be difficult...maybe Maguire is worth a £65 mill gamble
